My 770gtx does just fine in every game I play and should do just fine on Doom this week. I don't see any fps in the forseable future that would justify spending hundreds of euros into a new graphic card.

This is a Hitman benchmark. The 290X (a card released in 2013 that you can get for $250) is beating the 980 and that's on an incredibly flawed architecture.
Polaris has already BTFO'd Nvidia's 900 series when it comes to performance and wattage.
Even if it performs slightly below the 1000 series, they're targeting the $250-329MSRP market for Polaris 10

Gimpware currently only works because it is run on a single thread and seriously bottlenecks the GPU with the CPU.
