I died over a dozen times random shit and curse-rotted greatwood, and was afraid after hearing about Pontiff's fight and how much trouble people were having with him and I walked in and killed him first try, and again the second go around.
What's so hard about him? Every single one of his attacks is telegraphed as fuck, especially when he splits, and you could just block it and punish him more than a player in pvp due to him not having latency issues.

Gwyn was probably the second hardest boss in vanilla DS1 if you don't parry him, but that doesn't say much.
Soul of Cinder can be brutal, though. About 90% of his attacks will two shot you, his Gwyn phase cannot be parried, and his combo-blast is inescapable if any part of it hits you and it's basically guaranteed to kill you if you're not over-leveled or a tank build.

The camera works just fine for me in that fight, and I've fought him 20+ times on the PS4. What the fuck am I missing? He happens to be one of the easiest fights to me. His attack patterns are not random enough and are telegraphed, and he gives you too much time to heal and recompose yourself.

As far as the king himself goes I thought he was hard because you have less flasks from the first half (usually), and his attacks are very fast/you can't tell when combos end, making it hard to flask and causing me many deaths when I tried to take a sippy. I usually fucked up dodging his lightning attacks too. Once I found out you can poise break/riposte him it was easy

Not that guy, but as counter-intuitive as it sounds, it's better to lock onto the Nameless King in the first phase rather than the dragon's head. The head moves around a lot, making it a really annoying lock-on target, while the King is more stable. As for the fire attack, he generally won't do it as long as you never get underneath him, which you won't have to do if you're only going for the head.

Do you unlock every time you lock onto the wrong target? There is only 2 targets in the fight, so if you lock onto the king, you just switch targets instead of unlocking.
Also, for his second phase, if you use any kind of ranged attack then its harder to get hit by him than it is to dodge him. Seriously, just moving around without dodge rolls will get you to dodge a few of his attacks.

For Abyss, Dragonslayer, and Nameless I felt compelled to git gud and solo them, so it took awhile to learn the perfect dodges.
For Pontiff I tried to solo him, but it just felt impossible so I summoned.
Also I don't think the game was too bullshit aside from infinite stamina relentless enemies like the Sword & Shield Knights. At least you could actually dodge attacks unlike Dark 2 where you would take damage mid-roll.

Any boss can be trivialized with over-leveling in the same way any boss that isn't the Skeleton Lords can be made absurdly difficult by under-leveling.
I never understood where all this "How many times I died to these bosses" bullshit came from. Who even cares how many times they die? I've killed 'notoriously hard' bosses in one try under-leveled my first time meeting them, and I've died to joke bosses multiple times. Literally nothing about that matters.

By realizing that using a fast weapon, and pressing R1 all day is easy to defeat, thus you don't do it yourself. I don't see why people complain about this so much considering it just means free kills.
Also, large wide sweeping weapons like Smough's hammer is great for dealing with multiple people. Its the only weapon I've used so far where I can guarantee me killing a 1v3 gank squad, assuming no one has that horrible lag where they can literally attack you from 30 - 40 ft away.
It's interesting that people say this is the easiest souls game because I've played the other ones and the bosses are taking a few tries for me to beat in das 3. I breezed through Das 2 so I'm not sure what gives.

I played my 1st run the same way I played my other 1st runs: blind, quality, no summons. I believe this is how most play it.
I didn't grind or overlevel, I only used the souls I got from clearing the level and boss.
I've been playing since demon souls and I do not get why you guys are still ham fisted over the difficulty. This isn't a new series and from didn't change the tactics at all, so no wonder that someone who played the games before has an easy experience.
Don't take it personally when you see others doing most bosses first try, it's an easy game and I might say it's the easiest of them all. I shit talk on Dark II a lot, but the game was way harder than this (for the wrong reasons). Ever since Bloodborne came out, it's all BE AGRESSIVE R1 SPAM - the game and as soon as I saw that DSIII is no exception, guess what? Easy mode.

Demon's Souls had the best atmosphere but the mechanics are dated.
The latter half of DS1 was mediocre.
Then there's DS2. Vanilla was dull. The DLC, while decent, wasn't as good as I'd hoped outside bosses.
DS3 really just hits all of the right buttons with me. Challenging without it being artificial difficulty, bosses are actually fun(I actually really liked Yhorm's fight because of the DeS throwback, even if it was easy), cool NPCs, and really good music. There's also the atmosphere, specifically that moment after I gave the firekeeper the eyes, and the ambient music suddenly changed.

You encounter them before then, you should know that they either attack or enter a parry stance, it's a 50/50 chance. It's the fault of the player for yoloing in and letting three skeles spawn instead of being cautious and pulling them one at a time (especially since he saw it was a white eyed skeleton which respawn once)

Souls games aren't even hard. Memers on have been trying to push that whole muh difficulty shit since DS1, which led to DS2 embracing it and prioritizing difficulty over fun. The only remotely challenging souls game is the first one you play. It's why a lot of people keep saying Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, or BB is the hardest.
