In general, and especially with Uncharted, it gets too wrapped into console warring too. If Uncharted were multiplat, there'd probably be a lot less of this specific type of shit flinging. It'd be more like Bioshock Infinite than this, probably.
People get mad at this because it ends up as part of the never ending oneupsmanship and denegration of console warring. It's pretty brutal if you think about it (drowning is not a nice or quick way to go) but what you see is straight out of a cartoon.
2's Badguy got beaten to death by mutants. In a "I'm not going to kill you.......but they will *turns around and walks towards camera*" moment.

I never got the appeal of these interactive cutscene type games.
Where's the fun in doing a bunch of QTEs? How is it fun just following a linear path of set pieces, with no diversion, no options to approach differently?

theres stealth mechanics, platforming, shooting and a lot of exploration in the game with branching paths. Then theres the set pieces, driving and the qtes.
theres nothing wrong with linear games though, this takes the semi-open world leaning on linear approach which is a good approach and decent middle ground.
The beautiful envrionments and its characters are what makes the game for me.

The appeal is it's one of a handful of PS4 exclusives, and the hype behind a PS4 game that's not a multiplat, shovelware, or plainly mediocre, is a big factor. Also, in the same way that Madden and Fifa attract colossal audiences, it's just mass market bland entertainment.
