I don't know what could have given you that impression. It's a relatively dark detective story set in post-war Japan. MC is a 30 years old private detective investigating a series of murders that leave the corpses mutilated and missing limbs/organs.
It's got a bit of continuity with Cartagra and other Innocent Grey works, but just in the form of cameos and off-hand mentions of events, it's not really necessary to play anything before it.

I have never, ever played a VN that had good H-Scenes and I've played a lot of VNs.
Most of the time they completely ruin the flow of the game. See: Muv-Luv Alt, YU-NO or other times they're just there for the sake of being there.
And to the OP play YU-NO, Steins;Gate, Ever17, Higurashi or Umineko. Though be warned that YU-NO falls apart during the second half of the game and it never recovers.
