Well activision studios are pretty much just a sweatshop. Theyve been using the same engine since cod2 and building upon it. Its a pretty flexible engine all things considered but cod still has a recognizable feel to it.
DICE has gone through several engines and engine revisions starting with BC1. Frosbite 1. BC2 was frosbite 1.5. BF3 was frostbite 2. And so on. DICE are technical experts and know engines because they needed an edge to compete against COD.
This whole cod vs battlefield thing only really sparked in 2011 when it was MW3 vs BF3 and bf3 made mw3 look like a fucking toy.

The fact that they went with a war where your basic infantryman used either a bolt action or entrenched MG but will somehow turn it into everyone has some fantasy full auto gun sprinting around the map is beyond dumb.
Best case scenario it's the usual Battlefield shit. Worst case scenario it's Battlefront: WW1 edition with vehicle and special weapon power ups.
