I think the developers did a wonderful job at giving the crow the right reactions to certain things you give her. Let me elaborate.
When I first approached the nest, the crow was asking for some pickle-pee and some pump-a-rum, so I happily obliged to give her what she wanted.
First I showed her my longsword and her reaction was quite amusing. After showing off my +10 weapon with decent reach, she was all excited and yelped "Pickle-pee! Pickle-pee!" then a funny sound of her gagging like she swallowed something and then yelped "Pickle-pee! Pickle-pee!" again.
Next I unzi—took out my shiny ultra greatsword and showed it to the crow. She was yelping "Pump-a-rum! Pump-a-rum!" followed by a silly gag sound like she couldn't speak. Thankfully she managed to catch her breath and continued yelping "Pump-a-rum! Pump-a-rum!"
If these are her reactions for trading the Armor of the Sun set, I'm curious what her reaction will be when I trade her my staff for the Sunlight Shield.

Well yes, it's ultimately your choice. Flip a coin or roll a die maybe? For STR I'd say the best weapons for it are the BKGA, BK glaive, and the Dragonslayer greataxe. I don't know much about DEX weapons but the Chaos Blade/Washing Pole and Estoc are pretty good. I guess the longswords are good as well but they're pretty easy to parry.

Harpies are cuter than walking asses with a bird stapled to them, and it's probably because it's more likely just a young giant crow than a harpy, but again harpies have the potential to be really cute and cute things in a shitty world shine all the more.

I wanna try throwing myself at this franchise to see if I can beat it, should I grab the first game for cheap on steam and try it or should I try and dive into number 3 from the get go?
I want to start at the start (and spend less money right now), but I also don't want to get stuck playing something with shitty mechanics that isn't nearly as fun as the latest stuff.
