My point is that Infinite Warfare is trying to do for the series the same thing that CoD4 did, to break the mold and take it in a new direction. But the industry climate and the player base has changed so much from 2007 to 2016 that the reaction is completely different.
Instead of receiving praise for being different -like CoD4 did in 2007- its being lambasted for it.
