ITT: God tier single player games
I'm waiting.
Better than half life 2
You literally cant prove me wrong
>>336621443
>>336621834
Only correct answer.
>>336621443
>>336621751
most games are. hl2 is little more than a tech demo.
>>336622262
never could get past the heart monster
>>336621443
>>336621834
memes aside this game looks pretty fun, I'm happy you can stealth in this game.
I realize it has multiplayer, but that's not why you buy it
If only those fucking chinks sticked to the Town-Castles-Village areas these game would be so much better
>>336623953
Forgot Image
>>336621443
Single-player only?
If not, I'd say Saints Row (especially as I never played it multi-player)
>>336624171
Rockstar has made some damn fine single player games
>>336621443
Easily a 10/10
>>336622262
Anon, why was the soundtrack so damn good?
>>336624059
Been replaying it on PS3 after originally mastering it on the Wii.
It looks nice, but trying to do the shooting range with analog sticks sucks ass.
>>336624612
It was fun and cool.. Until you fought aliens.
>>336625280
Inferior to hexen in every possible way
>>336624394
Too bad about GTA V.
>>336623509
Nice movie.
>>336623509
I watched it after it came out. Nothing impressive. Nice story I guess.
length aside
>>336625608
>Too bad about GTA V.
This. It wasn't bottom of the barrel terrible, but it was shit by GTA standards. At least IV was alright, but shit, III through VCS were great single player games.
>>336625724
GTA V is the best GTA
>>336625724
I blame Online, but trying to write for 3 main characters didn't help.
>>336623281
THANK YOU! I thought I was the only one here who had played and enjoyed that!
>>336625549
Hexen is a far more frustrating game to play, I found backtracking to be tedious and I projectiles often did too much damage. A fantastic FPS without a doubt but Heretic is a much smoother experience.
>>336625791
Spotted the underage/dudebro.
>>336623509
The multiplayer was better than the story though.
>>336622604
>WiiU
yeah, nah, kill yourself
>>336624394
this is correct
>>336624612
also this, however it's not even close to a 10/10
>>336622645
literally take out the stop motion meme and the game has nothing going for it.
>>336625931
>yeah, nah, kill yourself
Sure the enhanced bloom and removal of the Tingle Tuner is shit, but it improved a lot on the original game desu
Turok 2
>>336625724
In what World is IV better than any of the others
>>336625931
>You like the slightly different version of the game more than the one I like. I believe you should end your life because of this.
Umm
>>336621443
Symphony of the Night, Aria of Sorrow, and ChroniclesI liked the Simon redesign
>>336626093
>any of the others
Settle down. Obviously, it's better than the first three in the series. Vice City is debatable.
>>336626112
hownew.ru
>>336626253
Shit taste. Nowhere near as scary as playing the original for the first time, and the Marker infection plot was wasted completely on "muh Nicole"
>>336626374
>the first three
I'd say it's better than those, all of the handhelds, and LCS and VCS. San Andreas and Vice City I think are still above it.
>>336622604
Sure, but Wind Waker is much better with a second player.
>>336621443
minecraft
Move aside everyone
>>336626252
Oh, and Lords of Shadow 2 's Revelations DLC
>>336621443
its good, but its not god tier
god tier is system shock 2
>>336626521
Definitely not as scary, but a more well-rounded and better paced game than the first one.
Plus, I always thought the whole focus of the Nicole subplot to the Marker plot was to show Isaac overcoming his inner demons, which it did fairly well.
>>336626702
Bait.
>>336626868
combat was garbage.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AV9W2ZdmjU
>>336626782
It added literally nothing to Isaac's character.
>>336626868
Assassin's Creed in Mordor.
bb
>>336624059
Christ, that's one of the few games that I've played that is almost perfect in every way.
>>336626997
The "muh Nicole" culminated in him finally "getting over" her and going off with Ellie, showing that he had finally moved on from the girlfriend that had been haunting him since the later part of the previous game and since the start of the second one, no?
>>336626521
What about the superior gameplay? Dead Space was never scary. It tried too hard to be scary by having jump scares and 2spooky4me ghostly whispers.
Assassin's Creed II, Brotherhood, and Rogue.
Revelations would've been great if not for the recycled weapons and face model change.
arkham asylum
dude sexdude sex the second (yes you heard me)
dude sex the third
>>336627312
The only thing 2 has over the original are controls
>>336627275
Sure, but what does that add to his character?
>>336623509
I liked it, too
also pic related
>>336627335
That had such great atmosphere
>>336627602
yea motherfucker. "Gladius" is still my password for a ton of stuff because I liked it so much as a kid
>>336625537
Some of the Alien parts were nice when you had the Gauss rifle, i feel the ending sequence in the boat and maybe a little before that is when the game turns to shit
But the first few hours of being literally Predator in the jungle hunting chinks is top tier
>>336621443
Nocturne and Persona 3 and 4
>>336626868
Way too many shitty side-missions and lacking in story-missions
Branding was fun, but overpowered
>>336627754
I started the series with the second game and was disappointed.
Why was the original never ported?
>>336627571
I don't know.
I mean, to begin with Isaac was never a character of tremendous depth to begin with. In the first game, he's a mute who basically wanders around killing people and fixing broken shit.
In 2, he does exactly the same except this time he has a voice and interacts with side-characters beyond sitting there and listening to their shit.
What kind of character development were you expecting from him?
>>336625883
Heretic does have some odd level design that can be confusing for first time players. Also the RNG damage range for weapons was way too damn huge. It really shows in the Samsara mod for Doom when they apply the same damages in one game.
The Etheral Crossbow sometimes won't even kill a shotgun dude at point blank due to the insane range of the damage.
>>336627501
Yes, exactly.
>>336627362
>Rogue.
I like AC games for dicking around cities. Conveniently grown trees in narrow pathways is shit
>>336624268
My memories of this game are so vague.
But seeing the picture of the game always brings a smile to my face.
I suppose it is a great game and I had alot of fun with it.
>>336627903
Something. Otherwise, what was the point in adding so much dialog for Isaac? Because some faggots can't deal with a silent protagonist?
Literally God tier
>>336628054
I prefer it to them just being in the way.
>>336628361
Literally no
>>336628361
Hello, every "gamer" ever.
>>336627501
>The only thing 2 has over the original are controls
inclusion of the javelin gun, more area variety, actually somewhat enjoyable QTEs (and pseudo QTEs) and natural transition between chapters as opposed to the tram system of DS1
Oh, hello
>>336625280
Muh dick, muh nigga i love you, Heretic 2 also was a masterpiece.
>>336628440
The tram system made sense for the setting. And I think the Ishimura had some pretty diverse areas, given that you were on a spaceship.
One weapon and QTEs aren't shit.
Have you fuckerz forgotten about me that quickly?
>>336628263
I don't know, but i would have found it difficult to feel invested in his story of getting betrayed at every corner by some different asshole along with facing nicole if he took it all as a fucking mime.
Majora's Mask.
>>336628541
What was so great about this game again?
>>336628773
It's fun.
>>336628685
Facing Nicole, sure. But he was betrayed in the first game and nothing about that moment felt off.
>>336628773
Nothing, its shit, and HL3 will be as shit but the hype will blind all the fanbois.
>>336624612
If you realize that you're not suppose to play it like a generic fps and crank up the difficulty to max, 10/10 easy.
A shame most people don't even experiment with the mechanics.
>>336628773
le gravity gun XD
>>336628773
it's good
>>336624612
it was pretty shitty
the first far cry and the half life series are way better
I enjoyed all of them to some extent, but the first is still the best.
>>336628649
it made sense for the setting of course, since the whole way people traveled through the ship was via tram, but it was still far more rigid than a transition like pic related after you blow up the gunship
>>336629047
All I ever hear is that it's good but never any specifics. I've tried watching playthroughs but they're so boring. People say after the boat part it gets better. In what way?
>>336628917
My point is that it essentially added to the experience.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EE1EP3FWa-s
This moment wouldn't have been nearly as cathartic if it involved Isaac just listening to Nicole rant on about how she betrayed him.
Instead we get to see the main character put genuine anger and indignation on display.
I don't know, maybe this might just fall down to personal preference because I hear "fuck why did they give Isaac a voice" quite often when people are talking about DS2's pros/cons.
>>336629168
Yeah, and it would've been cool as a one-off transition in the first game, but there's only so much you can do within the setting.
>>336628773
It's mostly a tech demo. It was very impressive for its time but it lacks the great level design of the first game and is left with mostly mediocre shooting an an alright but unfinished story with some vehicle sections sprinkled in. Not a bad game by any stretch of the imagination but it's nowhere near as good as people like to say.
>>336629358
They could've saved it for the end and just had him not talk or just talk A LOT less. The guy is a fucking chatterbox in 2.
>>336629254
>physics - still one of the best games for killing things with regular objects out there
>ravenholm
>combat not clunky crap like more modern, consolized FPS such as bioshock
>you can go pretty fast
>smart gunships shooting down your rockets
It's just a good FPS with gimmicks that don't suck.
>>336629551
>The guy is a fucking chatterbox in 2.
Which, in turn, made the game feel a lot less scarier than DS1.
Me, I personally loved hearing Isaac's voice though I guess it wasn't for everyone.
>>336629668
did they actually shoot down your rockets?
fuck it's been like 7 years since i last played half life 2 and while i still remember the gunship part on the bridge i don't remember anything like that
>>336626206
Im in agreement
>b-but the artifact quest!
Well collect them before the end of the game then you idiot!
>>336629501
Ah now you see, that's a believable description. It's one of those games that were good for its time but was turned into a meme over time.
>>336630295
Yes. They start dodging a bit and shoot at the rocket instead of you. If they hit it (possibly a bunch of times), the rocket just falls down.
I'm sure there are videos on youtube showing that.
>>336629668
Sounds like it was kinda God tier for its time. When was it made again? 2004?
>>336625549
I'm playing Hexen right now and it's far worse.
Choosing from three different classes is interesting, but it's pretty shitty that each class only gets to use a third of what might have been a half-decent selection of weapons. You have to play through way too much of the game just to get your second non-starting weapon.
>>336626374
IV is worse than III, Vice City and San Andreas, and V
>>336629158
strongly agree. I can play through asylum any any. Sorta comfy to me also
As a PC port, Dead Space is outrageously bad. You basically have to choose between fucked mouse sensitivity (Vsync off) and bizarrely long input lag (Vsync on).
As a game, though, it's still pretty good. If you can find a way to fix the mouse and frame rate issues (which will require third-party software because developers are retarded), it's definitely worth playing.
>>336630347
another 10/10
>>336631007
but it's not god tier, it's far from that
>>336631007
Dead Space 1 and 2 remastered when?
>>336631210
It's more in the 8-9/10 range but definitely not a 10
It's God tier to me.
>>336628508
2 is better.
>>336621751
Loved this game. It was my first DOOM game which might be why. I never understood why /v/ seems to hate it.
