This has nothing to do with wages. Cost of living is high as shit. Why charge $60 when people will pay $100.
>>
US$60 = ~AU$80
$80 + 10% Tax = $88
Uncharted 4 at JB-Hifi = $89

Seem to be pretty accurately priced at the moment.

The truth is the truth, and is not necessarily politically correct or socially acceptable. As a matter of fact, the truth is by no means politically correct or socially acceptable. So, if you came here looking for some conversation material or water-cooler material, then you came to the wrong website. The truth is greater than man, so it will not bow down to your social needs, personal needs, or insecurities. And, your feeble-minded reasoning does not and cannot negate that which actually exists.

The truth is not a function of human emotions, nor is it catered to the complex dynamics of human culture, interaction, or relationships. So, if the truth makes you feel "embarrassed" or "awkward," then that is your own problem.

As all truth messengers already know, human beings always stand in the way of one trying to spread the truth, via such tactics as peer pressure and ridicule. If one ever mentions the truth to a human being, the human being will quickly attempt to suck that person back into the mindless reality that is referred to, here on Earth, as the "real world." The truth is an enemy of humanity. So, if you are a slave to the human race, then you will forever keep the truth at arm's length. Therefore, you must pick one: humanity or the truth.

Human beings were created (that is, invented) via genetic experiments that were conducted by reptilian aliens. These reptilian aliens, also known
as the "Anunnaki" or the "Reptilians," still rule the Earth to this day.

In fact, the Reptilians have indoctrinated you so thoroughly that you are probably too weak-minded to even fathom that they exist. Via religion, science, and other forms of indoctrination (i.e., brainwashing), the Reptilians have steered you (and the rest of humanity) in the exact opposite direction of the truth, to the point where the concept of an alien master/creator is considered to be the ultimate crazy fantasy.

That's perfectly fine though. You're allowed to go a teeny bit over too since it's recognised in the heat of a situation you might not be able to weigh your options up very well.

That requirement is there to stop people getting robbed with knives and pulling a gun out. In any case the reasonable force requirement is usually easy to meet since it's viewed through the subjective lens of the defender.

The reasonable force requirement is an unfortunate, or fortunate, byproduct of having to prevent people saying 'I s-shot him in self defence! He had a fork and looked at me menacingly!'

This is because commonly it's a two stage test: Was it necessary to defend in the eyes of the defender and was the defense reasonably proportionate?

You can see how easy the first requirement is to satisfy. The bullshit quote I just made up would satisfy that requirement. The second requirement of reasonable force is just a catch-all to prevent people running amok like U.S cops. Yes it means you give people a fair fight (or go slightly over 'fair') so too bad. The social good in reigning over the top 'defense' outweighs the con here.

If you want to criticize bad laws talk about the incoming 'Google tax' and import tax on goods less than $1000. Fucking bullshit with how out in the middle of nowhere we are.

Because you have to spend money otherwise your government is doing an awful job.

Government money does little good sitting in the bank, and during the Howard government's administration they were covering up the numbers of unemployed and homeless with "surplus", because they knew dumb cucks like you would be impressed by saved up money and ignore the fine print that them saving up that money was doing a disservice to the country.

Elaborate on the "google tax".

I listened to some of the budget the other night but didn't catch all of it, and I've heard about Google and Apple managing to evade massive amounts of tax/not paying tax at all for their operations in Australia and America, is it something to do with that?

Are they finally making the multinationals pay, or are they just making us pay for it?

>>336562328

I work in tax and I still have no fucking clue about a ton of the budget. I'm guessing it's a two stage process: A diverted profits tax and an investigation team to enforce it.

>Scott Morrison announced in the budget a raft of new measures and a special Australian Taxation Office taskforce to chase down $3.9 billion of tax that companies and wealthy people are dodging.
>The measures include a new diverted profits tax that will hit companies for 40 per cent of any profits they attempt to route through low-tax jurisdictions, which is expected to raise $200 million.

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/budget-2016/budget-2016-rush-to-avoid-tax-crackdown/news-story/7eb8cf4a936cdfd747174915fcbc6ff3

So it would seem like they're making multinationals pay as money gets funneled out. Who knows? The draft is still in progress.

As for taxable imports. I'm pretty sure the import tax for goods under $1000 only applies to business entities that make over $75,000 AUD through importing into Australia. Won't apply to every single business then.

Also Netflix tax is possibly coming into effect in 2017 on July 1 and may last for 2 years (possibly a test period). Enjoy your 9c GST on that 99c indie anime game you bought on Steam.

Then again who knows? I could have sworn the Netflix tax was happening this July. Who knows what might be taken off the table if Labor get in?

Well I guess it balances out the fact that your minimum wage is like 20AUD which is something like 15USD.

You think vidya is expensive? Wait until you move out of your parent's basement. EXCEPT YOU FUCKING CAN'T!

Housing prices are at the worst they've been in a long time and compared to the recent unemployment rates of the average 15-25 year old, it's almost impossible to find a good place to live on your own.

Maybe i'm just crazy for staying in Sydney all these years. Everyone keeps telling me to move to Melbourne. Apparently it's much cheaper there. But i can't fucking stand their hipster culture.

I guess i could always just get married. Might make it a little easier to move out. But then again, i'm a kissless virgin with no chance because i got no game. I guess there's always vidya, right?

You're all wrong. Trust me, I'm a lawyer.

Queensland's self defence laws are as such, but the other states are all broadly similar.

Criminal Code 1899 - SECT 271

271 Self-defence against unprovoked assault 271 Self-defence against unprovoked assault
(1) When a person is unlawfully assaulted, and has not provoked the assault, it is lawful for the person to use such force to the assailant as is reasonably necessary to make effectual defence against the assault, if the force used is not intended, and is not such as is likely, to cause death or grievous bodily harm.
(2) If the nature of the assault is such as to cause reasonable apprehension of death or grievous bodily harm, and the person using force by way of defence believes, on reasonable grounds, that the person can not otherwise preserve the person defended from death or grievous bodily harm, it is lawful for the person to use any such force to the assailant as is necessary for defence, even though such force may cause death or grievous bodily harm.

What this means is that there must be an objective danger to your life. You cannot just feel threatened - your fear must be a _reasonable_ fear. A reasonable person in the same situation must also feel threatened. Secondly, so long as your fear is reasonable, the force can be any such force as is necessary. It's not necessary to shoot somebody to defend yourself from them spitting on you. But necessary force does not imply equal force either. Where most people get into trouble is old mate stealing a microwave and they surprise him. Old mate turns and runs and the "defender" shoots him in the back. That's not self-defence under the law because there is no reasonable threat from a retreating man and no force is necessary.
