>only listen to game and anime soundtracks
>someone asks me what I listen to
Always tell the truth. If the other person doesn't understand or mock you, it's not worth your time. Out there is full of people that listen to vidya and anime music but it's too shy to admit it. Being the first one to honestly admit it might help you to find good friends.
>have long hair down to my ass
>everyone always assumes I listen to metal
>I don't, I hate metal
>have just decided to go along with it so I don't have to get into my "special snowflake" tiers of taste in music
Say you listen to contemporary classical and hit them up with piano covers, duh. Old timey composers made music for the mass entertainment devices of their ages, operas, masses, mourning ceremonies and ballet. If Mozart was still alive, he'd be making vidya music.
Some of the music in Pump it Up is pretty catchy
You know when you're trying to find that one song but all you can find are shitty covers with a generic bass beat, high pitched vocals, and a generic animu girl as the thumbnail? That's nightcore.
You know how when you go and try to find a song on youtube, the uploader sometimes gives the vocalist a high pitched voice to avoid copyright claims? That edit turned into a genre called nightcore.
Because I like long hair, that's it, that's literally the only reason. I can do a lot of different hair styles with it so it's not always the same thing, keeps things interesting.
Just some Drake, Taylor Swift, Rihana, Beyonce, Lucas Ghram, Arriana, Bruno Mars, Maroon5, etc.
It's not that hard to list names of famous people. If they ask what song then just say whatever is on the radio.
Nightcore is a genre defined by the speeding up of music alongside adding boring electronic beats to an already existing song. It's basically techno on crack meant for 13-year-old anime fans.
>get asked what music I listen to
>say rock instead of vidya music
>they ask if it's like this
>they play rap music that has "rock n roll" in the lyrics
This happened with two different people I shit you not.
Socially acceptable tier
Radio pop, edm/house/trance, surface level world music, classical, surface level hip hop, The Doors and Nirvana
All other rock, video game music, metal, OSTs, everything else I don't feel like listing anymore
>"I like electronic music"
>"Oh, like techno?"
I don't even listen to that much electronic, I just really like Jelly Tones
Actual rap with meaning that feels like poetry is good though.
The crap that's literally just rhyming about money and whores and gangs gives rap a bad name.
I don't mind those genres as a whole but there's no denying the HONKY TONK DRIVE MY TRUCK SHOOT MY GUN and WUMUN N MUNNY, WUMUN N MUNNY, UH YEAH garbage you hear on the radio is total shit.
>"I like listening to soundtracks"
Every single person I've told this to would automatically assume I meant movie soundtracks or something like that and reply with "Oh, cool, I kinda like that song from [movie name]"
And if you really don't feel like continuing the conversation after that, you just change the topic, simple as that
Don't explain sources, list names and genres instead, make them shut up and ignore you, not the opposite.
>Right now - Frank Klepacki's latest album, sure it's similar to his previous works but it's interesting how he added a bit of chiptune flavour to his usual rock marches. But overall my favourites are Yuki Kajiura's neo-classical takes on ethnic music.
Best barometer for grading rap/hip hop:
1. Lyrical content
2. Vocal delivery (regardless of lyrical content)
3. beat Production
A lot of emcees are really good in 2 & 3, but it's something hard to find lyrical content if you're picky about that sort of thing.
I only listen to folk punk and 80s action movie soundtracks
>tfw you're a faggot loser when you drive
le eurobeat XD
>get a ride from someone
>the radio is set to the country station
Is there a worse mainstream genre? 99% of it is about making love to trucks and shit.
Anyone that is socially adjusted doesn't need to splerg out a whole list of all their interests because they have had more than one conversation with a person (due to their autism)
>am a complete autist like the rest of the faggots on this imageboard
>when a creepy trench coat guy asks me what music I listen to I can still say Megadeth and Metallica
>when a nigger asks me I can still say Snoop Dogg and Tech N9ne
>when a woman asks me I can just say the Beatles and their brains turn off
>when an old person asks me I can say Yes and KC and the Sunshine Band
Like seriously guys just meme it the fuck up it works.
>you just won't hear it on the radio
Because Beach Boys, Bjork, David Bowie, Kate Bush, Talking Heads don't ever play on the radio right?
Because alternative radio stations don't play a range of genres
>not exclusively listening to the Nier OST and The Talking Heads
I really need to expand my musical tastes
Im not listening to anything, I just like having headphones on.
>"hey what are you listening to?"
>"a videogame soundtrack"
>"ah ok XD a bit nerd lol, I know [shitty mario theme song] lol let me listen"
>it was xenoblade's field theme
I love to dash expectations, when they think it's some kind of 8 bit shit
Say you listen to Musical Concrete. That gets all the ladies panties wet.
>anon you said you listen to video game music right
>is this from a game too
I fucking love the Anarchy Reigns OST
>rock and metal are not socially acceptable
/mu/ please decide if rock and metal are pleb shit that everyone listens to, niche shit for autists, or "dadrock" that only old people listen to.
It can't be all of those at the same time.
I don't give a flying fuck whats acceptable or not.
I listen to whatever the fuck I like, whenever the fuck I want. I don't give a shit what other people think, they can kiss my ass.
Its Nightcore. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4NMSr837Y0
I almost exclusively listen to Daoko
I want to move to Japan and marry her
You have to be at least 18 to post here
>Anarchy Reigns OST
Well shit, this is actually pretty good.
>"hey anon what do you listen to?"
>"...do you like...sports?"
>listening to Bebop OST
>normie friend asks if it's Sinatra
Show them some kickass tracks then anon.
Basically choose the normie sounding ones and pray they go away.
Or show them some GRAND old times
E U R O B E A T
MOVE YOUR FEET
Try to recall some bands I used to listen to back when I listened to non-OSTs.
I don't even care. There's only a couple of interests you can pursue aggressively, and "listening to music" isn't one of the ones I'm tail-chasing.
>riding shotgun with my elder brother to take a look at the boat we own
>get randomly called by someone, can't remember who
>sundowner's sick theme intensifies
>"hey bro, who's the musician who did that one? pretty nice"
Who is the best Spice Girl?
Friendly reminder that he's dead and the world is a bad place.
Agreed. I would rather have them list out bands that I'm indifferent towards so that I can call them all shit, spit in their face and tell them to listen to Neutral Milk Hotel exclusively or else they should kill themselves
>"Hey anon what are you listening too?"
Tell them what I'm listening to
>being a fully grown fucking adult who is anxious that people will judge you based on stupid shit like what media you like
I can't imagine how awful it must be to be like that. Grow a fucking pair of balls.
Pixies, Radiohead, Velvet Underground, My Bloody Valentine.
Expand your horizons
Is listening to music a meme? I mean i get putting the radio on when you're in a car or something but do people really go out of their ways to listen to music during the rest of the day?
I don't understand this shit
Do you think music somehow gets better because it was made for an electronic toy? Why don't you listen to music from the genre you like instead of waiting for someone to make vidya music in that genre?
Casey is literally fucking tone deaf and the fact that Jeff spams her in this shows soundtrack is cancer.
>used to listen to be one of those guys who listened exclusively to classical compositions and shat on vidya and animu music constantly
>now can't get enough of these tracks
I feel like I've become a complete plebeian and I love it.
>Don't listen to any music at home since it is blaring everywhere you go all day and just want some quiet
>This is apparently an odd thing
>Had to shout this conversation over some rap playing that has already repeated 5 times today
>being bound by genres
Lel, I would not have found and enjoyed half the stuff I listen to on the regular if I hadn't slogged through hours of shitty music that I didn't enjoy. Not a large fan of mainstream rap for example, but by going through similar artists and reccomendations, I found a few niche artists that I really enjoy.
Don't be close-minded, it just makes you experience less. Not saying "accept everything and pretend to like it" but at least try.
>I like everything except country and rap
>Unless it's gothic country
Personally I listen to lots of shit including video game osts, but I can see why someone with little real interest in music would mostly listen to things they not only already know but have emotional connections to thanks to the games the songs appeared in. I would normally probably hardly care for a song like Komm Susser Tod, but being rather emotionally connected with EoE, just hearing the song brings back those emotions and makes me enjoy listening to it.
>mfw one of my favorite bands is Electric Six and all anyone knows are Danger High Voltage and Gay Bar
They're such a great band.
>I have trouble understanding and hearing the lyrics to a lot of music
>Mfw discovering video game songs that use conlang like with Hymmnos or Nier's language
I wish conlang music was it's own genre outside of games. Until then I guess I stick with Akiko Shitaka kind of music.
>I liked the music in that game and can't be assed to look into more stuff like this
Or some people, including me, just like to listen to music from something, because it reminds them of that thing.
What's wrong with nightcore, senpai?
most recent album from King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
Last album from Igorrr 4 years ago
also hotline miami 1/2 is the bomb
>that fag who blasted animu sountracks and nightcore off his phone in the bus
>looks at hentai while in public
>actually tried to show me what hentai he was looking at
>showed somebody else futa
>doesn't shut the fuck up about Dark Souls or some other FoTM indieshit game
>always talking about his shitty game ideas, like paying for lives in order to continue
>mfw trying to maintain eye contact with his ugly, greasy mug and his filthy yellow teeth while he tried to tell me why Midna is the best Zelda girl, and why TP is the best Zelda
>bothered people to look at his shitty youtube channel to watch his minecraft videos played on his shitty Gateway laptop
>acted like an edgy faggot from /b/
>What do you listend to?
>Actually list what I listen to
>Start to go full autism; Stutter and everything
God damn it
Learn the Composer's name and/or the people who performed it.
If you're asked "What do you listen to?" And you're embarrassed to say "Z-zelda music..." then spice it up by saying you're recently a big fan of Japanese Orchestral or something. Fuck.
Fucking A dude. I've just started remembering some of the mid-lower Top 40 to get these morons to leave me alone instead of going through the trouble of explaining to them what any genre that's not popular is.
>being embarrassed of what you listen to
>that one friend that listens to Lemon Demon and They Might Be Giants
>egotistical autist who shouts about hisnwierd fetishes and shit
I dunno man, I've never had people judge me for the music I play in my earbuds or car. Most of the time, the people who don't play vidya think it's actually pretty cool and weren't expecting games to be more than just random beep boops.
Gonna go grow my hair up to my ass as well. Problem is that my hair is curly and forms loose dreads/corkscrews so when its wet and straight its up my nipples but then it dries up and goes bit below my shoulders.
>used spotify for awhile
>suddenly realize /mu/'s archives exist
>don't even use spotify anymore
If it's not a friend:
>Answer I don't like music.
If it's a friend:
>Tell him I listen to video game music.
>Tell him why to make it less weird.
Tell them you like classical. It'll either be too boring to push any further, or you could just list generic classical musicians.
But classical is pretty nice.
I straight up tell anyone who asks that I don't listen to anything. Many probably know I'm lying but, better they think I'm embarrassed over some actual band or something than ask me why I only listen to game and anime osts.
>This is why Kendrick Lmar and Eminem are pretty much the only rappers I listen to.
Oh boy, you're one of THOSE guys
Are you serious? The only thing I haven't been able to find in Spotify was when I tried to show a friend Macintosh Plus to explain him what the vaporwave meme was.
What kind of /mu/-tier shit you into, son?
Dunno. I don't actually listen to the lyrics of ANY of their songs.
The only Kendrick Lmar song I tried listening the lyrics was "These Walls", but turns out that the song is about pretentious shit about
A FUCKING VAGINA. Fucking niggers, man. This is the kind of shit why we shouldn't listen to what niggers have to say.
I only listen to Kendrick's smooth tunes, and Eminem's kind-of hyperactive instrumentation.
