The quality of the animation is going to make or break the game for me. The graphics aren't outstanding, but decent animations can salvage it.
It's hardly the best one ever but I have to admit, it's pretty damn good. I don't give a flying toss about the Warhammer universe and this still kinda pumps me up - it's very well directed and paced and builds up a very neat atmosphere. It does remind me of Starcraft way back when Blizzard still knew what the fuck they are doing. And considering it's a sequel to what I've gathered supposed to be very good RTS series I don't miss gameplay footage either.

I'm not a lore expert either, but I'm pretty sure they are kneeling in front of the statue of the Emperor and that it's all supposed to be a dream-like vision, the wind (it's not bullets, but pieces of debris that fly at them), representing the necessity to stay devote even in the face of greatest adversities. They don't see any enemies - the orcs only appear as the statue of Emperor turns into them.

Generally better game than 1. Don't listen to the nostalgia fags that haven't touched DoW in years. 2 has aged a lot better, and they both essentially have the same numbers and gameplay for the most part. 2 just cares a lot more about positioning and having actual interaction with your units. The retreat mechanic is kinda meh and a carry over from company of heroes but it's neither good nor bad.
Despite all the nostalgia fag crying, it's also got a much more alive community than 1(All of it's supposed fans are nowhere to ever be found.). When you get used to the game, I recommend downloading the Elite mod for more content and a more active community, as well as more modern balance support and tweaking.
Pick up 1 for fun afterwards to mess around on factions that aren't in 2, and to basically see for yourself that all the nostalgia bitching is basically by people that don't actually play the games.

In the grim darkness of the far future, everything is fucked up. The SM we just saw around the :30 mark has given everything he had, and as life began to leave his mortal shell, he thought of the Emperor and everything that he's been taught. And as he further slips away, thoughts and memories were mixed up and reinterpreted, but still based on what he and his Battle Brothers have experienced.
Before the 3:00 mark, we see what might have actually killed him--he must have been slammed with such a force that it broke him beyond repair. And how everything before that timestamp was just his life, flashing before his eyes, and how he embraced death and regretted nothing. For the Emperor. Like any good SM would. Other chapters were always wary of the Blood Ravens--with so many psykers, other chapters don't trust them. Even other Blood Ravens had a moment of doubt of their chapter, after the betrayal that happened in DoW II. Perhaps the nameless SM had a brief moment of doubt too, but thinking of the Emperor provided him comfort as he took his last breaths--may it be the Emperor psychically comforting him or not, we'll never know.
Then around the 3:00 mark, we see him dead, but with a smile on his face. Then something crushed his head.

I'm not sure what to make of the bodies falling from the sky and into a crater, where our nameless SM lay dead, in such an orderly fashion (3 lines). However, I have a theory on what happened.
We know by now that kind of taint/corruption would eventually lead to an Exterminatus of a planet or some kind of horrible bombardment from space. The crater we see around the 3:10 mark was a hole made by an Orbital Cannon/Strike. The DoW III's OC/S is supposed to suck enemies in a bit before getting vaporized. Maybe that SM was a Force Commander who ordered an OC/S, knowing he'll get killed too, but did it anyways. For the Emperor. It sucked him in and did a lot of damage, then the fall/ground slam did even more. Then his life flashed before his eyes, while thinking of the Emperor and everything he's been taught, to comfort him as he slips into oblivion.
As far as the narrator being a woman, it means nothing--she's merely saying the SM teachings. Probably some "womyn affirmative action" shit. Probably to attract WH40K neckbeards too, hearing such a voice saying WH40K stuff probably gives them a chubbie or whatever.
Anyways, that's my take on the trailer. I can't wait for DoW III to come out.

Eldar aren't like humans at all.
It's something the games fail to capture completely. They're always shown as being space elves when they're more like humanoid spiders. They're described in lore as having soulless eyes and unnaturally long limbs with unnerving gaits and extremely pail and gaunt complexions. I agree with the Marine accepting his death as he gladly sacrificed himself for the Emperor and the Imperium, but there are also Eldar bodies in the pit. So it's not just about the Marines, at least that segment. On the other hand there are no Ork bodies, so maybe it's not about Khorne but about soldiers sacrificing themselves for their race, knowing that their sacrifice was not in vain and that they are going to stand besides the Emperor and the Laughing God in the afterlife. Orks presumably go to Gork and Mork, or are reborn with the Waaagh field, but they don't fight for the same reason and with the same convictions Marines and Banshees do.
