For one, and this is judging by the videos I´ve seen so far, challange.

In every video the enemies were there pretty much only to look cool and act as walking shooting targets.
Gameplay also seems slower than the early dooms, but that´s a thing that 3 started I guess (which already wasn´t that great of a game imo).

I am asking for Doom. The best areas were filled with interesting hand crafted encounters and tight hallways. It wasn't just big open areas filled with monsters until the later areas and Doom 2 which were just kinda shitty. Link to video where the guy got overwhelmed. From everything I've seen the player's fighting maybe 5 or 6 tougher enemies at a time, which isn't even on par with Doom 64. Having a shit ton low HP hitscan enemies helps make the combat more frantic in a way tanky enemies cannot.

I also think alotta people forget the factor of difficulty levels, most footage is shot on Hurt Me Plenty so if you're used to UV level mayhem then obviously things will look a little too easy and bland.

That's exactly what I mean though. The part shown in the video had like 2 Mancubus, 2-3 Revenants and a couple of Pinky Demons. Besides the fact that it's still pretty low numbers, where are all the imps and zombies? Oh yeah, the imps are now tiny and fast so they cannot be methodically placed next to other monsters to give the encounters that hand crafted, frantic feel.

I wouldn't mind so much if this was its own game, but the fact it has Doom stapled to it means I'm going to judge it compared to the series best entry. It's not small feat to try and make a game that has to both live up to and improve its predecessor but Bethseda have not come close to either. Put in all the old sfx and "Rip and Tear" achievements you like. The game still looks and controls like garbage. Some people have the ME3 ending and MML 3 to be forever angry about. D44M will be mine.

We've been over this a million times you retards. The melee cutscenes are NOT optional. They give you more ammo and health than killing the demon normally would, plus any other kind of kill would cost ammo, melee doesn't cost ammo. Stop saying it's optional when the game is literally designed around it.

There's an expansion of this in form of the chainsaw: The chainsaw is a one-hit kill on EVERYTHING and it has its own "ammo" aka fuel separate from other weapons. When you kill a small demon with the chainsaw it gives you a lot of regular ammo at the expense of little fuel. Or you can use the chainsaw to kill the bigger demons which costs more (or all) fuel and afaik gives you less ammo.

Melee cutscenes are your main way of getting ammo in this game, with regular cutscenes being used for free, ideally as often as possible. The chainsaw is a tradeoff deal, regular "glory kills" are not - there is NO reason NOT to use glory kill every chance you get. It would be stupid not to do it.

How would you even know this? You'd have to run the exact same level, same monsters (might not even be possible if they're using procedural AI placement like SnapMap does in singleplayer) and then test both ways. Are you a playtester at id?

I think the players in these recordings are just making the game look easy. The one in the OP is screwing up quite a bit but it is not like his fundamentals are all that bad. I would personally play even more like a fag and make it look super-easy, but only because I'm too used to modern military shooters now and those games teach you to be very efficient with positioning. Probably boring to watch though.

The game should be just fine with a few notches up in difficulty and enemy speed. If some modding is allowed (Doom 3 was fantastic with this) then I can see how the challenge can be increased fairly such as more enemies per wave or faster animations.
