Have you ever done an idle playing method in a video game before?
>>
>>336418687
yeah for that one rocket league trophy
>>
>>336418687

I don't play games on consoles, so I just write an autohotkey script instead of elastic banding a controller.
>>
>>336418687
tf2 item idling back in the day
>>
>>336418687
Yeah, Legend of Dragoon. Can easily grind on the ghost ship with a turbo-controller. Even without additions the normal enemies die easily. Just need to keep an eye on it and break every hour or so to heal. Then if you grind enough gold for the "additions auto-complete" items you can do the same in the desert at the start of disc 4.
>>
Castlevania CoD on the ps2. Walking in circles to evolve the familiar mage or something like that. I loved that game
>>
I have some hefty metal dice I use when I'm doing some /tg/ shit and want to fuck up somebody's table--anyway, they're the perfect size to weigh down a single key on my keyboard. They're pretty useful.
>>
>>336418687
So many times. To farm stickers in Brawl I made a stage with 4 pits, conveyor belts, and put four yoshis in it. I hooked up 4 wavebird receivers to the Wii, all on the same frequency, set items to High and only Sandbags, started a match on the stage with 4 Yoshis, turned my wavebird on with the stick up (so that the game would detect it as down on the neutral position), and proceeded to tap A while reading a book for a couple hours to down tilt the shit out of all the sandbags that spawned. Autism is real and lives in all of us
>>
In quest 64 found a spot where i could train my speed without getting into random encounters and left the little fucker running in circles for a night to max it

What a horribly underrated game.

Despite its flaws, of course.

1000g on Rumble Roses XX.

Arcade Stick with the turbo on and something heavy on top of it. I'm surprised the console survived being turned on nearly 18h a day during 50 days but it did.

Rubber banded the sticks together to regain MP on FFXIV

weighed down a key in oblivion to get athletics up.

Also in R&C 3 I remember going to a certain spot where cars would continually fly past and rubber banding the fire button down so I could get a million bolts or whatever it was to buy the rhino

>>
>>336419257
I did the same, except for like a week. Bad idea, since agility determines your dodge rate. Since you don't get hit very often, your HP will never increase. Almost like a luck build, by the end of the game bosses can one shot you with the meager amount of HP you have.

I meant FFXII
>>
>>336419819
I did something similar in R&C1, only using the race track glitch. And that was only for the 1 million bolts trophy in the HD collection, I had bought else everything already, RYNO and Gold Weapons and all.
>>
>>336419409
Yeah, right? The weapons, the forging, item stealing, that perfect defense thing, all the familiar types, I loved it all.

Curse of Darkness. Duh.
>>
>>336418687
Never used a rubber band, but I did do that FF12 method of leveling where you get a rare spawn and just kill the infinite zombies he spawns with the gambit system and just leave the game on for hours.

I'd occasionally reach down while doing something else and check if the controller rumbled which meant I was still alive.

Pokemon X & Y, I used a dime to hold the circle pad around lumoise city tower while pokemon were in the daycare to quickly level them up overnight. I regret it because a few months later my circle pad started to break and eventually I had to trash it and get a new one.

Back when Warlords of Draenor came out.

Having no desire to be logged out for being afk (I don't actually recall what I had to do), what with the 6,000+ player queues on ED, I left my character in a low-level dungeon, move key weighted down, so that he would constantly run into a wall until I got back.

It wasn't even worth it.

One of the Ratchet & Clank games required an absurd amount of bolts for a trophy, and I had every other trophy just from normally playing through the game, so I idled bolts in an area with infinitely respawning boxes. Didn't use a rubber band, though. I think I did some fuckery with hooking up the controller to my PC while holding the button down, since my DS3 was my PC controller at the time, and when the PC picked it up, the button stayed pushed down on the PS3.

No, it was some static blue enemy I think, that only attacks once you get close enough. Near the beginning you have to activate a bridge to cross a small river in a cave, but the sword's range was longer than the river and could hit the enemy from the other side of it, before activating the bridge.

Oh sure. Ys 3 on the Genesis & SNES &'d stick Adol near the bottom of the mine pit in the Tigray Quarry. Position yourself JUST right and Adol can just swing his sword to his hearts content while enemies run up to him and away in set patterns, JUST close enough to get swatted by sword strikes and far enough away they they can't hurt Adol in return. Turn off the TV, come back in 8 hours, be at max level and max cash.

Same for any JRPG that has a rotatable overworld. Set turbo controller to auto (or, if something like a Tales of game, to Auto Battle), slap a rubber band over the needed buttons/joystick positions, and come back an hour or so later massively over-leveled. Worked wonders for Vesperia.

Morrowind, to level athletics. I put my character in the river going through Balmora, pointed him into a corner of the bridge and weighed down the W key.

Also when I used to play Kerbal Space Program I was trying to see how far around the planet I could go in a single flight with a plane. Eventually my test flights were going into hours.so I would just pitch the plane at the right angle, turn on AVS or whatever it was called then I'd fuck off to do something else. One time I fell asleep and woke up three hours later to find the fuel had run out but my plane still gliding safely. This was early in the game's life, when increasing the game speed would fuck the physics and they hadn't properly figured out the air dynamics. Good times.
