Hey guys, I want to play though the original Doom and Doom II again. Is there something out there that keeps the original gameplay of Doom largely intact but has all the graphical bells and whistles a mod like Brutal Doom has? Or is that more or less a customizable feature of Brutal Doom? I must admit I never tried the mod myself.
Basically I dont want reload, I dont want shit like aiming down the sight. I want something that plays like doom, but has the updated lighting effects, blood effects, music, sound and what not.
>What is google
just play zdoom or gzdoom
it's the original doom but with proper mouselook and some other features i don't really know about because i'm a retard
if you've played the roguelike then check out the doom roguelike arsenal and doom rpg mods, they work together and they change the game into one hell of an experience.
add oblige for randomly generated maps/episodes and god damn you've got an infinite timesink on your hands

Yeah okay smart ass, google just leads me to mods like Brutal Doom that seem to fundamentally change specific aspects of the game.
I figured /v/ would be the best place to ask since most people on here are sperglords that shit themselves if too much of the original game is changed... like myself.

If it comes right down to it I'll play zdoom/gzdoom since I have no problems playing a mostly-classic version of doom.
I just really like the particle and lighting effects brutal doom has... but I don't want the more modern gameplay features like ADS and reloading, or the super try hard edgy shit like flipping off demons.

as far as it comes to "edgy tryhard" bullshit brutal doom is still shit compared to stuff like demonsteele
brutal doom is overhyped garbage

Try the "Ketchup" mod. Not perfect but kind of does the trick. Or the "smooth doom" for nice animations.
Chocolate.

GZdoom will give you the dynamic lights/volumetric fog/texture filters/jumping/crouching/etc. without the edgy extreem gameplay adjustments of Brutal Doom.

Thanks mate, that image is exactly the kind of thing I was looking for.
