the only thing a want is more everything, more variety, more different enemies and big boss monsters, bigger world, more cities not just one, more quest with more flavor text and dialogue to it, more of those cool cutscenes and of course more skills/classes and combinations

also I wish the world scale was at least 5times bigger with the possibility of riding huge distances or flying on the back of the monsters

Not saying that Halo 3 is a bad game.
But the ONLY way it's your personal GOAT is if it's the only video game you've played in your entire life.

it wasnt based on individual skill it was based on win margin and effectively required you to stack your team with 3 other people doing the exact same thing to shit on unorganized lower rank players in order to increase higher ranks
hence the quotation marks
you could be the biggest retard in the world and still rank up if your teammates carried hard enough
also the soft bans for quitting early to hide the fact that the rank system plain doesnt work if people have the freedom to quit matches whenever they want since again it doesnt have any way to even attempt to measure individual skill

it was just generally shit, nothing redeeming about it aside from meaningless self-aggrandizing and masturbatory rank-touting from "pro gamer" 15 year olds
the newer games that follow the same exact model, ie mobas, are just as shit

It takes so long to start up.
Was the Salsa chapter really necessary? It made me hate Fassad,
but that chapter took way too long on what are both fairly unimportant characters.

It's also a little too easy, even if you sucked at the rhythm combat the entire game, like I did.

I want to replay Mother 3 sometime soon, but the Salsa chapter makes me reconsider that

The world and story feel super bland initially and don't improve until very late in the game.

Some of the encounters are incredibly annoying for melee focused characters, like the magic golem that has those floating crystals in the swamp.

Pawns won't shut the fuck up regardless of how many times I put them in the time-out chair.

It's still a really good game.
>>
>>336402087

False. You can't do that in hard mode in a combat with martial artists (they often hit you faster than you can), shields, armored guys (Knight's brutes kill you with two punches in hard), stun batons and electrical suits.

The universe lacks internal consistency
>Alphys specifically says you need a human and monster SOUL to cross the barrier, you never actually take Asgore's but can cross the barrier anyway. Even if OF somehow brought you across the barrier, in subsequent neutral playthroughs he doesn't even bother and just lets you off the hook, yet you can still leave.
>The whole idea of incorporating saving into the game's plot is clever but falls flat very quickly. If Frisk is the only one who can save, why didn't they reload to right before they fell in? If every other human could as well, how come the game isn't constantly being set back by the other RESETs going on? Is it only the player that can save and reset? If so, it's literally just a game mechanic and we're back at square one
>It's explicitly stated monsters can not have their souls taken without dying, yet the entire TP ending contradicts this
>You have to wake up the 6 human souls to beat Omega Flowey, yet Asriel had to actively resist Chara with all his might to avoid slaughtering the villagers
Other problems with the characters
>Sans loves his brother but trusts the word of a random stranger he doesn't even know over his brother's life
>In the genocide playthrough, nobody, including Sans who was literally waiting in the next room to confront you, informed Asgore the murderous human was coming and to absorb the souls to kick your ass
>A huge part of Alphys's arc is the things she did with the amalgamates and her self-loathing, yet nobody brings it up in the True Pacifist ending and lets her off without even a slap on the wrist for lying and keeping them locked up for however long the experiments had gone.
>And jesus christ I understand it was kind of the point of Alphys to be annoying and unlikable but it's seriously just excessive to the point every scene with her is a trudge just to get through

The random encounters can get really fucking tedious.

Skills and abilities are extremely unbalanced. Worse the game refuse to tell the player what exactly the various skills do, which can very easily lead to the player picking some strong/cool-sounding abilities just to end up gimped.

There aren't that many abilities to being with, which lead the player to reach whatever ability he was longing for rather quickly. Dual-classing is a crappy solution to this problem.

Really repetitive visuals.
Drawing the map and looking at every wall get boring fast.

leme have a go at this:

>Alphys specifically says you need a human and monster SOUL to cross the barrier, you never actually take Asgore's but can cross the barrier anyway. Even if OF somehow brought you across the barrier, in subsequent neutral playthroughs he doesn't even bother and just lets you off the hook, yet you can still leave.
I think it's implied you have the 7 human souls after beating OF, honestly don't know with this one

If so, it's literally just a game mechanic and we're back at square one
the power of saving is only for one individual at a time and only while in the underground (fuck knows why) flowey get the power from chara who many inherited it when they fell in? frisk then gets the power from flowey upon falling in, so can only reset back to the moment of waking
in the underground. this is explicitly stated

>It's explicitly stated monsters can not have their souls taken without dying, yet the entire TP ending contradicts this
they're physical bodies die, yes, but by being kept inside another vessel (asriel), the souls are not destroyed and upon removing the souls from him, the power of the human souls (which are those of a god), give the souls bodies again

>You have to wake up the 6 human souls to beat Omega Flowey, yet Asriel had to actively resist Chara with all his might to avoid slaughtering the villagers
I don't understand where the contradiction is here

>Sans loves his brother but trusts the word of a random stranger he doesn't even know over his brother's life
again, could you elaborate here

While I personally love it, some people will bring up Trauma as a low point in the game, which is an understandable critique.
I would say that I dislike that the boss with the panthers is just timing, and is pretty unrelated to the theme of the game up to that point, which was strategy and execution. I also find that it is sometimes easy to exploit certain strategies to the point of it beign unfun.
>>
>>336409919
In comparison to the second, the physics and hit detection can be clunky at best.
I liked the stealth section narrative and aesthetically-wise (essentially the bad trip you get after the fun times are over) but from a purely gameplay standpoint it makes sense that it gets hate, especially because of how the gameplay style shifts so much from the original.

>In the genocide playthrough, nobody, including Sans who was literally waiting in the next room to confront you, informed Asgore the murderous human was coming and to absorb the souls to kick your ass
actually flowey goes to warn asgore to absorb the souls and sans fully believes he can stop you with his special attack, so felt no need to try to stop you. plus I get the impression he doesn't really care

>A huge part of Alphys's arc is the things she did with the amalgamates and her self-loathing, yet nobody brings it up in the True Pacifist ending and lets her off without even a slap on the wrist for lying and keeping them locked up for however long the experiments had gone.
I think this is because it's such a morally grey area. note though that all the almagates get to go home, so I guess it did get resolved

>And jesus christ I understand it was kind of the point of Alphys to be annoying and unlikable but it's seriously just excessive to the point every scene with her is a trudge just to get through
annoying? sure, she made the hotlines a chore but I think she's designed to still be liable, in a dorky sort of way. guess it depends how you perceive her

overall I completely agree that the game is overhyped and quite flawed but still an 8/10 and easily in my top 5 GOTY for 2015

the "no replayability" argument could be contested, there is nothing at least inherently wrong with a game you can absorb at 100% in one play.
and furthermore i could argue that you could replay if you missed the two secrets (i think its only two at least)

I would not say it sucks; I liked it, but
Expert/equivalent difficulty level just make everyone a bullet sponge, and nope, that shit about one shot to head on extreme/expert difficulty is not true.
The AI is really good except when they go full retarded and can't see you when you are a bunch of feets away from them, not even 20 feets away. If you move a little bit, they are going to miss every shot, and since your weapons have HUGEASS spread, then it's just shoot and pray, or run in the middle of the enemy AI, grab the objetive/whatever and run back ingnoring that 15+ AI enemies are shooting at you.
AI respawn out of fucking nowhere, and they game hangs out no mather your computer, Garbage was the worst part of it.
Prypiat is better at those regards.

>I think it's implied you have the 7 human souls after beating OF
It is never implied that humans can absorb other human souls.

>flowey gets the power from chara
Incorrect. Flowey's determination which allowed him to come to life in the first place allows him to reset. Your determination overrides his, which is why he can no longer reset until he gets the souls and why he states he could "never predict you" after his long time of resetting and experiencing what all the monsters had to say.
>they're physical bodies die, yes, but by being kept inside another vessel (asriel), the souls are not destroyed and upon removing the souls from him
But it is explicitly said monster souls are weak (besides boss monsters) and can not persist after death.

>I don't understand where the contradiction is here
The contradiction is that the souls are dormant in Flowey yet Chara's soul can resist. If it's because Flowey has more souls and can pacify them easier with his power, how are you able to bring back the lost monster souls at all when he has the equivalent of 7 and is a god?

>again, could you elaborate here
His only connection with Toriel is that they both share an interest in puns, yet he keeps his promise to her about killing humans even when his own brother is killed.

>actually flowey goes to warn asgore to absorb the souls
True, yet you think that beforehand Alphys would do it, considering the whole point of Undyne the Undying was to delay you long enough so Alphys could warn Asgore and start evacuating.

>plus I get the impression he doesn't really care
He clearly does, considering how he believes you stepping through that door means the end of the timeline, which causes him to step in.

>note though that all the almagates get to go home, so I guess it did get resolved
This still doesn't explain how it is absolutely not brought up at all. I could understand if everybody forgives her, but it is just utterly dropped, like that.

>It is never implied that humans can absorb other human souls.
it's also never stated otherwise, it's a guess but it would make sense

>But it is explicitly said monster souls are weak (besides boss monsters) and can not persist after death.
I think this means they cannot persist after death without a strong force, say that of a near-god, containing them

>The contradiction is that the souls are dormant in Flowey yet Chara's soul can resist. If it's because Flowey has more souls and can pacify them easier with his power,
not all human souls are equal, chart was very troubled an possessed great determination, plus was recently dead, so had a strong presence in asriel when he went to the humans.
by comparison, the human souls had been dormant for a long time, without a host and were clearly lacking in determination, atleast in comparison to frisk, as they were defeated by asgore

>how are you able to bring back the lost monster souls at all when he has the equivalent of 7 and is a god?
it is shown that determination is what gives frisk their powers, I'm guessing that the determination they had, while not enough to outright beat asriel, was enough to pull their friends souls out. power levels in this game are vague as fuck

>His only connection with Toriel is that they both share an interest in puns, yet he keeps his promise to her about killing humans even when his own brother is killed.
this is a stranger he's known for years, he clearly trusts her. Also if you listen to his speech, it seems clear that it was much more about not wanting to interfere period, not just about keeping that promise

>True, yet you think that beforehand Alphys would do it, considering the whole point of Undyne the Undying was to delay you long enough so Alphys could warn Asgore and start evacuating.
considering how much of a fuck up alphys is in literally everything, is it any wonder she forgot to warn him?

>This still doesn't explain how it is absolutely not brought up at all. I could understand if everybody forgives her, but it is just utterly dropped, like that.
she resolves it with frisk at the end of true lab, I guess she resolves it with everyone else later. plus she mentions after the final fight that she's let them go home and regrets what she's done, so there's closure there

a game being intentionally vague about story elements is no bad thing, as being explicit can ruin expectation and make true contradictions emerge, rather than unclear stuff (see dragonball)

is it a bit of a cop-out? sure

is it better the players left guessing so they can think up whatever their head cannon is and have stupid arguments on image boards about it, I think so

>it's a guess but it would make sense
The fact that it's never brought up supports my argument. It would further complicate power levels if humans could absorb other human souls. It completely nullifies the power of monsters with the stacking souls if 8 humans can sacrifice themselves and have more power already.

>I think this means they cannot persist after death without a strong force, say that of a near-god, containing them
So it's not an inconsistency, it's just plain bad writing. Why even bother setting up rules if "SOUL magic" is an excuse to break them?

>by comparison, the human souls had been dormant for a long time, without a host and were clearly lacking in determination, atleast in comparison to frisk, as they were defeated by asgore
This still fails to address how you can defeat Asriel, then. You don't even talk to the human souls, you talk to about 9 in the 12 thousand +6 human souls Asriel has under his command. This brings up an inconsistency of exactly how much power each human soul gives you. Flowey can erase your save yet Asriel can't/doesn't? You have to wake up each of the 6 human souls individually in Flowey yet in Asriel you don't even talk to them? It's all over the place.

>this is a stranger he's known for years, he clearly trusts her.
"Years" citation needed. And in Sans's speech he makes it clear that if it weren't for his promise to Toriel, he would have killed you. He may say he's "joking", but the tone of the scene completely changing suggests otherwise.

>considering how much of a fuck up alphys is in literally everything, is it any wonder she forgot to warn him?
It's shown that under pressure Alphys actually becomes relatively capable (see: failed genocide, her success in the evacuation) It just doesn't make sense why she wouldn't have the sense to warn Asgore when Undyne died so she could do just that?

It is definitely more action-centered than the first game, and this is made apparent by the inclusion of a lot more production value and flashy cutscenes (which I really, really enjoyed), so nothing wrong with that point; In fact, it's a criticism I've heard a lot while browsing the Dead Space threads that have appeared from time to time.

I got spooked at times while playing it, though definitely not as much as I was in the first game. Personally, I think they should have brought pic related into the game sooner, as the most terrifying moments of 1 for me (and I can only assume, for others) was running away from him.

>a game being intentionally vague about story elements is no bad thing, as being explicit can ruin expectation and make true contradictions emerge, rather than unclear stuff (see dragonball)
That would be the case if it were something more minor, but the amalgamates was the entire center of Alphys's arc. You'd think a bit more attention would be paid to it, especially when a central theme of the entire game is forgiving people despite their faults. It's made clear that it's less vague and up to interpretation and more "Toby forgot about it while he was thinking up the 25th anime joke". It doesn't help that both routes other than neutral feel rushed as if Toby just wanted to get it over with.
