There are three values:
Cherrymax and cherry+, which are affected by borders/grazing/dying/bombing. They are scoring related.
Cherry+, which determines when you get borders.
After the border ends, cherry+ goes back to 0, and you start again. You can get many borders per stage. Unfocused shooting and getting big bullet cancels at the end of an attack will get you more cherry+.

I love Shibayan's new music to death and I'm looking forward to Bossa Nova 5 and whatever new disco music he makes, but I miss his kinda older electronic music. Like up until his ムソウマテリアライズ album. GAZE IT and point of silence (Synthwave Remix) are a great mix of his disco and electronic styles and I'd love it if we got an album full of tracks like those, but then his older electronic stuff is great too.
