Does this happen often for you? I'm playing DC right now and mostly the enemy just starts with one base. They only have more than one base (and its always just 2) when I'm attacking and theve fortified the region. Still kinda annoying though.

its a standalone with all the features of the previous two, the only thing you're missing out on will be the campaign, and the first two installments of dow2 only let you play space marines in the campaign.
retribution lets you play any race in campaign, but its basically the same campaign for every race with their leaders copy/pasted into the same situations.
I liked DoW 2 better. The base building shit is boring, I don't need to run through the same build order every fucking game, I'd rather be doing shit with my units.
Better cover system too plus more micro.

I personally think the story missions in DoW, the ones with a lot of dialouge and special events, are the best. But you have to play a lot of repetitive missions to get to those. Retribution, being an expansions is shorter and also has another race, the IG.
Play Retribution as the race that interests you and then watch the cutscenes for the rest on YT, if you want.
Thats how I did it.

Story wise, Retribution feels a bit hollow on its own. They made one campaign for all races and it shows. Overall its still pretty good.
Vanilla is samey and Blood Ravens only, but it leads up to Chaos Rising which has the best single player campaign.

Speaking of IG, did anyone ever use the stormtroopers in DoW 2? In DC and SS they were capped to one but still useful enough to warrant getting them. And in WA they're were uncapped and, since they were superior to Guardsmen in every way, there was no reason not to get them.
In DoW 2 I never found a use for them. Well, their meltas were good, I guess.

If you have to play it, then only for the campaign, and even then the mediocre WoL Campaign is the only good one here.
In terms of multiplayer, the game is a clickfest and only enjoyable if you inject caffein into your bloodstream, do the retarded building scheme which comes first, and behaving like a crack addict, then it is a good RTS for you. But for the crushing majority of people it's fucking bad and retarded.
Word of advice. If you want StarCraft, then stick to Brood War.

This was the most kino cinematic experience I've ever witnessed in a videogame trailer. The levels of imagery and the dreamlike quality of the deeply personal and engaging scenes are truly cutting edge. One has to wonder what was truly going on in the minds of such artists as they rendered their work onto their canvas. From the visuals, to the sound, to the passionate and bleak narrative, there wasn't an emotion disregarded. My heart even skipped a few beats in some of the more shockingly dark moments. Some things are meant to never be forgotten, much like this trailer. Pure quality. Bravo!
