the worst part of the game honestly was the endless spawn of enemies until you reach certain key points. Pretty much became a "run to the checkpoint and pray you don't die" scenario at some portions.

There's a place where you can hide a bit and enemies would only come in front of you (more like running pass you). Since captain Macmillan shot them the most he would attract them more, you can just cheese enemies to death.

Actually that Black Ops was a top notch Call of Duty... Not exactly CoD4 but still, don't think you could call the series dead at such a good game.
Would have to say it died as soon as MW3 got released, but deep down I think it died with MW2 and its crazy killstreaks etc. etc. (bigger is better mantra)
