I'm getting really tired of Cold Steel, I'm in the last dungeon and it's really dragging and I don't really care about the story.
The entire game feels completely pointless meanwhile everything important is happening in Crossbell.

It still stuck out as weird because every chapter prior was very slowly escalating stakes and involvement in inter/national conflict. The last chapter seems almost like an afterthought and they had to find some way to keep evreryone on campus and also wrap up the Old Schoolhouse shit, which almost literally comes out of nowhere.
It justifies itself in the end, but considering everything leading up to and following it, it was weirdly out of place.
Is this the translation that supposedly fell apart because the community was made up of Nightwolve Lites who were insistent on not using filthy XSEED terminology and then blew up at people telling them how stupid that was?

The problem just seemed to be with the fact that XSEED was translating it, when fans had translated it before or concurrently to them. Besides a handful of typos and one specific instance of a really anachronistic expression (played for comedy), everything seemed pretty good.

There's a reason localization uses a bible for series. It's just easy for both localizers and players. I get wanting to be more in line with the Japanese but if the series has a official localization I don't really see any harm in using their terminology.

Sky focused on a small cast of characters and took a million hours to finish and had it's own plot going on for the first game. Also Sky 1 and 2 are somewhat self contained, whereas CS's plot is split over 3 games.
CS gives you a large uninteresting and/or irritating playable cast, and to rub it in further all the background characters are all incredibly lovable or hilarious. The game also only had several small towns and the whole game basically told you "look forward to CS2"

Tales of Vesperia PS3 sat at 90% for years before releasing.
They'll finish the translation, then spend another 6 months actually inserting it into the game, followed by probably another year of bullshitting around and making minor tweaks so that they can pretend to be professionals and add it to their work portfolio as a "completed project" before they actually let anyone outside of their team play it.
And now with 3rd releasing officially the more they run their mouths about "look how much progress we've made" the closer they'll get to being hit with a cease and desist order.

Unless you are seriously gunning for a job in the industry of translating Japanese games, I can assure you that no one wants to put legally gray projects on their resume.
