Yes. While playing space station 13 a borg started stalking me saying how much it loved me. I kept fighting it off, even all but killed it a few times. It broke into my office through brute force. Eventually I did it, as I feared it was trying to kill me. As it lay dying at my feet it still said it loved me. It reminded me of my cat dying in my arms and I cried.

The closest I can think of offhand is Deionarra's sensory stone. I couldn't even remember what happened in it until I just looked it up, but I remembered it hitting me really hard. But that was while playing. I can't think of any time where I was close to crying just thinking about games.Actually, maybe this. I get really bummed out when I realize that I was born too late to experience the culture of 90s PC gaming, playing Quake and Unreal and being blown away by the huge graphical and gameplay strides in games, or just connecting over HEAT and playing Duke 3D and Shadow Warrior with people, and being a part of communities that cared so much about them.
