His Dash-dance is above average, has an amazing ledge dash (longest in the game but hardest to do too), and his wavedash is ok.
Frankly his hurtbox being so big and his only fast attack being his jab is what fucks him up.
It's funny, a stock against a good Fox doesn't start until like you're 50%.
All you need is like 3 hits though.

They do, but at high level play what people do with Fox makes him way more powerful, even if more demanding on the player.
Sheik is pretty popular at low/mid level.

A lot of people do play Shiek for that exact reason. But the things fox and falco can do are really fun and more engaging than shiek, so more people play them.
The most common main in the community is Falco. Not because he is the best, but because a lot of people can win rather easily with him and he is fun.
Sheik used to be lame but Shroomed, Plup and Laudaundus make her interesting for me. Also faceroll but he's still on the come up.
Believe me, everyone here would prefer a sheik in GF instead of Puff. Literally 100x more fun to watch.

I'm really unsure of who to call my main though. I do equally well with them, I've just used Lucina a little longer. I feel like both of them have potential to be amazing characters.
I was using Pikachu for the longest time also, and really wanted him to be my main, but I've been doing terribly with him lately. Maybe it's just bad FG lag, but I just dunno. I still use him often to see if I can git gud, but I feel like I'm regressing somehow. At least Lucy's cool.

Learning a character is more than learning how to multishine in the lab or pratice chain grabs.
Melee has a neutral game and you need to know how to execute that neutral game against certain characters.
You can get decently far playing barebone spacies if you have the fudementals.

Tech isn't actually the hard part of melee. Tech is something you can just grind away and practice yourself.
That said, newer players don't tend to appreciate that Fox needs a huge amount of tech to be as good as he is, most of them only hinder themselves by playing him as opposed to Sheik or Marth.

You don't need good tech until you reach mid level and even than you can out fundamental the fuck outta people.
How are people incentivised to bring CRTs/Gamecubes to your local tournaments? Is the incentive effective, are there a lot of setups? Are the majority supplied by a minority of people bringing multiple setups, or do lots of people bring a single setup?
Trying to work out how to improve setup numbers at the tournaments I run. Can't forever rely on just a few people bringing 3 setups each out of love of the game.

When I say "Fox needs a huge amount of tech to be as good as he is", I'm referring to his position on the tier list. Fox isn't so good that he's just outright better than all other characters, you need to utilise all available tech to make him that good. Shitty players don't realise that tier lists only really apply at high levels of play that assume matchups are being played correctly by both sides.
At lower levels of play, Marth & Shiek tend to dominate.
