How does /v/ feel about neo-blizz? Be honest.
>>
I love it but god damn Tracer feels Overpowered before her nerfs hit pre patch of HotS.
Gotta sell them prepurchases they're thinking.
>>
they make shallow games for casuals on the guise that theyre not for casuals, then force them into competitive where they don't belong (because they have no depth and become immediately stale)
>>
wouldn't fuck with >>336310927 dick and >>336311039 pushing

They're still scum.

I hate how cartoony everything they make looks now

would like to see something a little more gritty
>>
>>336309296
>League of Legends / Dota knockoff
>Magic the Gathering knockoff
>Team Fortress 2 knockoff

I'd say they should stick to their classic genres, but after seeing the disaster that was Diablo 3, I'm not sure they have the talent it takes not to fuck everything up.
>>
>>336311465
Reapers of Souls actually fixed a lot of the issues with D3. If they commit to a new expansion with 2 more classes instead of just milking seasons the game would actually be in a pretty decent healthy state.
>>
>>336311465
>Warcraft is just a Warhammer knockoff
Is Blizzard capable of having an original idea?
>>
I never liked any blizzards games
>>
>>336311709
>WoW is now a Farmville knock off
>>
>>336311864
Blizzards should have bought Clash of Clans
>>
They make stuff their fanbase likes, or comes to liking. Whether or not it's simply because they're Blizzard shills, I'm not sure.

But they make a fucking killing off their fans, so why not?
>>
>>336311683
Except leveling new characters each season is no fun and they hardly add any new content compared to other games in the same genre.
>>
>>336311465
>Heroes of the Storm is a DotA knockoff

Yeah! And I hate how Windows 8 was totally just a ripoff of Windows 7!
>>
Diablo is a good ARPG
Hearthstone is good if you don't take it seriously.
Same with HotS
Haven't even tried Overwatch

Why aren't the original Warcraft games available? I don't want to play that WoW crap or Warcraft 3.
>>
Honestly if HotS was a little less casual i'd probably be playing the crap out of it.

Its just a little too mindless for me.
>>
>>336312316
No, in this analogy HotS is OS/2 where DOTA is Windows, an OS by a different group on their platform.
>>
>>336311382
modern blizzard and doom used to make cool looking art but these days its just cartoony clay models
>>
>>336309296
Overwatch is great, hearthstone is alright and is more popular and lucrative than WoW, and heroes of the storm is shit.
>>
>>336309296
They haven't made a good game since Brood War.
>>
>>336312470
Why not just play DOTA or LoL?

HotS is literal casual version of those games which is a good thing when it comes to trying appeal to a market.
>>
>>336312268
What other games? Path of Exile took fucking years to add new acts.
>>
>>336312537
except for DOTA2 by Valve and Icefraud is a shamble now and aged like your grandma.
>>
>>336312691
Burnt out on Dota and LoL.

Couldn't get into smite at all. Don't like Battleborn either, Paragon looks kind of promising for how early on it is.
>>
>>336312709
Last season they have added 13 new skills, 2 since then, several uniques, new areas and enchants to the game. What did you get with the new season of D3 that just launched? Its like blizzard isn't even trying, not that they have to.
>>
>>336312084
>implying they can afford it
>>
>>336312470
Post your ranking.

I've never seen a single naysayer who called HotS too casual have anything other than a shit ranking. Ever.
>>
>>336312470
What HotS lacks in mechanical depth it makes up in strategical one.
I play DotA and HoN for years and dabbled a bit in LoL and Smite and can honestly say HotS is the game where you as an individual have to think the most out of those games. Not that this is necessarily saying much, but still.

For better or for worse, this usually results in the game being a fucking throwfest. In no other game in this genre can you throw as hard as in HotS because people actually need to make decisions and think. And because there are many different objectives and ways to play a game of HotS (whereas the average dota lategame is just "stick as 5 and push"), individuals fuck up all the fucking time.
>>
>>336312987
I hardly played the game. I got into the alpha super early and didn't enjoy it at all.

Do i need to have hundreds of hours clocked in to have an opinion on something?
>>
If it's available to download from the battle.net client does that mean I'm in?
I never signed up for shit.
>>
>>336313308
If you preordered it and have a early access key you can play right now. For everyone else i think its just a preload for the open beta on the 5th.
>>
They haven't made a good game in ten- scratch that, more, most of my fucking lifetime. They lucked out with WoW and discovered their winning formula of shallow garbage for retards coupled with insane, brazen money-gouging. They heavily (and obviously) market their games using so-called "new media" tactics such as paying streamers of other games to participate in their promotional events. They're also so bad at making games, and so good at violently mutilating genres that they simultaneously destroyed the national sport of Korea and created the league/dota esports scene. Relatedly, they're so spiteful of their failures that they lash out violently (such as failed lawsuits against Valve because they rejected DOTA because they didn't expect it to become successful after what they actually put their money in killed the national sport of Korea and created the league/dota esports scene).

So, what does this mean for Blizzard going forth? Besides continuing gouging retards in WoW subscriptions, Hearthstone packs, and paying to win with the good heroes in HotS, they'll move their sites to Overwatch; its combination of massive marketing and lowest common denominator design will cause it to be a huge hit and it being terrible coupled with a number of absolute cardinal sins (20-tick) will take the online FPS, withered from years of console attrition in the post-halo and post-COD years, and finally kill it dead for good with no hope of recovery.

Have you considered not being the most bitter and cynic person alive?
>>
World of warcraft: I don't even have to say anything about this, everyone has their own reasons for why this game is awful now, be it terrible PvP, lack of open world, lack of balance, lore raping, oversimplification of mechanics, or probably another dozen reasons.

Hearthstone: RNG out the ass, pay to win garbage. Player decision making has a minimal impact and the game just makes people angry.

Starcraft 2: They fucked custom games and the competitive scene is never enough to carry a game, and my god I've read better stories on bathroom walls

Diablo 3: Is this even a game anymore? It's got similar gameplay to cookie clicker, try and make your number go higher! No skill or challenge involved. And again, terrible writing.

Heroes of the storm:
Check out hotslogs, which tracks hero pick/win rates.
http://www.hotslogs.com/Default
Tracer, the newest hero, has a 90% pick rate and a 55% win rate, which, if you aren't familiar with these kinds of stats, is almost as bad as it ever gets.

Even from a pure gameplay standpoint it sucks ass, with healers negating the damage of 2 damage dealers easily leading to stupid pointless standoffs.

My god this game is terrible.
>>
>>336309296
Anyone have the image where Blizzard's trying to offer an anon Diablo 3 and he shits on it. So Blizzard decides to sell to casuals with Hearthstone and HotS? People who would appreciate their games?
>>
>>336312935
underrated post
>>
I honestly think they're underrated.

Heroes of the storm and Diablo 3 are the only bad games they've made. Hearthstone, star craft 2 and over watch are legitimately good.
>>
overwatch is the only great game in that picture. the other two are mediocre.
>>
>>336314242

Overwatch takes the FPS out of FPS. The only legitimately good thing about it is the marketing.
>>
>>336314332
>The only legitimately good thing about it is the marketing.
No, it's the porn. Legit hottest women out there right now. In a row. All of them, even that hulking lesbian.
>>
>>336312758
Okay, you might be slightly too underaged to understand this, so I'll elaborate.
IBM (Blizzard) created the IBM PC- later known as the PC Compatible because of its use by other companies- which became an open standard widely used for many things (Warcraft 3's map editor)
Microsoft (for the sake of argument: Guinsoo, Icefrog, and Eul) make Windows (DOTA) to run on the PC Compatible and subsequent versions (DOTA2) become exceedingly popular
IBM, panicking at this because they didn't do it, rush out OS/2 (Heroes of the Storm) to compete and market it as a "better windows than windows"

Where this allegory falls apart is that OS/2 was actually better than windows, and Microsoft is much closer to Blizzard in terms of being litigous
>>
Putting trace in HoTS was a mistake, she's too fucking safe.

She has the same range as any other ranged assassin but can move and attack at the same time., including how mobile she is compared to any other hero. How the fuck did blizzard think that was a good idea?
>>
>>336309296
as always the only thing that makes them money is warcraft
>>

Well WoW's shit now, but I always hated it, so I don't care about that.
Never played Diablo, and apparently 1 is shit, 2 is amazing, and 3 was shit then turned out pretty good after years of patches.
HotS is another ASSFAGGOT that I don't care about but other people seem to.
Hearthstone is random bullshit the game, so I'm not interested.
Starcraft 2 is dead, but Blizzard kind of killed it.
Overwatch looks pretty cool, and if they never charge for heroes/maps and all the stuff you can pay for is cosmetic then I will be excited. I really liked TF2, and this might be the new TF2, except with less F2Ps, pony fans and Russians.

Overall I don't really have an opinion of neo-Blizzard because I never really played their original games.
>>
I sort of dislike their games, but I play them constantly

Me and pretty much all of the people I play with are blizzdrones tbqh

I haven't decided about overwatch, it does seem pretty fun though
>>
>>336313879
I'm not sure what makes me bitter or "cynic" (you meant cynical) about describing a company with one of the worst track records in the industry. Am I incorrect? Did WoW not have money gouging in its subscriptions? Was SC2 being trifurcated not money gouging? Did Diablo 3 not have money gouging in its real money auction house? Did Hearthstone not have money gouging in its card game model with the design of "it makes you feel powerful when you [buy] more cards"? Did Heroes of the Storm not have money gouging in its model of paying for heroes in a genre so heavily based on picking and counterpicking?
>>
Now that sets are finally fucking here Hearthstone is fun. HotS and Overwatch are decent for what they are.

Never thought it would end like this though
>>
they're not even trying to avoid looking like casual game devs now

>>
>>336314539
All your jibberish means jack shit to me. When I played DotA back in the early 2000's, the glory of the game was already rooted in the pre-established WC3 engine. This paired with an Eternal Conflict taking place at the "Battle of Mount Hyjal", a battle between the Sentinels and the Scourge was all epic BECAUSE there was pre-established lore in the setting.
>>
>>336309296

Shit. Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.

Anything post Diablo 2 from them has been downright shit. :/ Such a shame.
>>
The Disney of gaming.
>>
>>336315164
Okay, well, if you played dota for the (very, very terrible) warcraft lore then you might want to massage your forehead and check for you pot of gold because that opinion is rarer than unicorns and leprechauns
>>
>>336315202
Diablo 2 wasn't even Blizzard, it was just published by them.
>>
>>336309296
I have never been a Blizzard fan, so keep that in mind. I had some okay times with Diablo back I the day, but I've never touched World of Warcraft, or any of the games in your image. I don't have the slightest desire to play Overwatch. I don't ever want to play a MOBA, and I play preexisting physical card games that have digital options that are free so I have no reason to invest in Hearthstone. They'll continue to make money "perfecting" other people's ideas. At least, that's what I'm told they're known for. I don't give a shit about Blizzard and unless they release something that doesn't look like it would attract only the most frustrating people you could ever play a video game with for another multiplayer online experience I probably never will.
>>
HotS is probably the most boring moba on the market. They had such a good idea too, take the accessibility and steamlining from league and the heart pounding teamfights of dota and cut out all the pre murder bullshit and general dota arcanery. Instead we got more League funsize bullshit where nothing feels like it's got any weight behind it.

Hearthstone is just pay to win skinner box garbage at this point. But now even if you pay to win your digital cards have an expiry date.

Overwatch is actually pretty fun. Feels a bit more like CoD than TF2 though, with the ultimates behind the source of random bullshit deaths instead of killstreaks.
>>
>>336309296
Still entertaining games.
>>
>>336315395
no i'm a fucking veteran. I even have things that got into the game because I was a vet in the hero suggestion forum.
The shit we made up as a community was very passionate about Azeroth initially if you weren't aware.

Entertaining games that no longer take any risk. Art and cinematic teams are top-notch imo, but they can only affect the game so much.

I'm largely indifferent.
>>
All the teams at Blizzard are good except the WoW team, the WoW team gives them a bad name

They refuse to listen to feedback & think everyone is wrong except them, while they continue to lose subs, which they blame on the "games age"

dead to me

all the original talent is gone, now its just a bunch of talentless hacks cashing in on previous successes

i hope one of their shills reads this and feels bad
>>
>>336317105
If you watch the Gamespot series on the making of Overwatch, all the original WoW talent was moved to Titan/Overwatch sometime around WotLK. The guys who made all the original cities are world designers on Overwatch, the original quest designers for WoW are game designers on Overwatch. They're all still employed at Blizzard, they just haven't released anything for almost a decade now.
>>
There was a period from around WoW's peak/the Activision merger in '08-ish to 2012 or so where it felt like Blizzard either got cocky and felt like they were invincible, let the suits and bean counters have too much power, or (more likely) both. Then WoW's decline began, SC2 was supplanted by LoL in the esports scene, Titan's development collapsed, and Diablo 3 was a disaster. They probably had a company-wide epiphany around then and realized that they had lost their way.

I don't think "old" Blizzard is coming back, but I think I like "neo" Blizzard better than "cocky" Blizzard.
>>
>>336317326
I don't care about wow or overwatch. The last project I didn't have any negative feelings about was wc3/tft. Blizz has become a soulless husk designed around quick cash-outs and empty promises.
>>
Hots is terrible

Sc2 is only a shadow of what broodwar was, its a fucking joke of a game

WOW turned into shit with no content patches

Overwatch wants to be a competitive game while catering to consolers, something that's been shown its not doable, so its just a pub game for a bit of fun for the first months.

Fucking trashed blizzard north and the diablo 3 idea to make their own diablo 3 which turned to be a huge steaming pile of shit that doesn't have it's own art style unlike 2 and 1.

Hearthstone is a jew mine, but the clownfiesta it brings with it make it entertaining to watch.
>>
>>336318125
Overwatch is terrible on consoles.

Borderline unplayable.
>>
>>336318219
The game has a lot of characters that can be difficult to track even on PC, I'm not sure how they think console peasants are going to play a character like Hanzo.
>>
>>336315506

Missing my point.

Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo: Amazing.

Once they released Diablo 2 and the expansion, they started work on World of Warcraft and every title since has been dogshit coming from them.

It's like they lost the plot of what made them "great" and what worked in regards to gameplay since a lot of the older Blizzard/Blizzard North folks have left.
>>
BW is great. SC2 is fun to watch. Campaign is nice, but there are no good writers at Blizz.

HS is shit and fucking expensive. Why would I play HotS when LoL and Dota2 exists? Don't like WoW, but because I don't like the genre.

Haven't played their other games. I might give Overwatch a try.
>>
>>336318713
>Why would I play HotS when LoL and Dota2 exists?
because HotS is a team game, whereas old mobas are about currency and carries hierarchy.
>>
Hearthstone is shit but I play it because its the only card game to play.

HotS is shit and I don't know why anyone plays it over Dota or even league.

Reaper of souls is alright.
>>
>>336318926
>why anyone plays it over Dota
because playing a game for a decade you realize it gets boring.
>>
They're releasing games. A stark contrast to Valve. And what games they release have followings that are HUGE. So yeah, if we're talking from an outside perspective, they are doing bretty good/10.

From a personal perspective: I liked Diablo 2, never played 1 or 3.

Heroes of the Storm has one good map. Which is the raven map. but no way to que just for that map, so that instantly makes the game bad.

WoW is still one of my favorite games to pick up every so often and I am looking forward to Legion.

Never played Starcraft in any form.

Hearthstone can be cool and I'm glad it's popular. A nice competitive card game for the modern age has been long overdue.

And finally, Overwatch. Game looks good, and the price is set at 40 bucks, which is a bargain by today's standards. I will probably pick it up when it releases. Been years since I played TF2 and this just might fill the void.
>>
>>336312457

>>
>>336312709
Reaper of Souls is actually just a PoE ripoff lel.
>>336311465

Blizzard hasn't made any game that I would enjoy since 2003. They are irrelevant to me, the feel died long ago.
>>
>>336321781
You should feel nothing and move on. It is human nature to be idealistically transient.
>>
>>336309296

>>
>>336309296
