>Open world games are bad according to /v
>Yet the two highest rated games of all time are Open world games
How do you explain this ?

Consolewar kiddieshit aside, GTA5 is, and that's fantastic.
/v/ is always wrong. Why can't they be right all of the time like /pol/?
for every good open world game you get twenty bad ones

>wo highest rated games of all time are Open world games
rdr and what?
Highest rated according to who?
>>336258545
Skyrim
>>336257326
I thought Mario Galaxy was the highest rated game of all time
>And well deserved too

Being open world itself isn't bad, open world as a system simply doesn't fit most games and most devs don't know how to make a good open world.

Not if you remember all Nintendo games are rated 10% higher than what they deserve.
Red Dead Redemption is a good game but that doesn't mean every game should be Red Dead Redemption all of the sudden. MGS shouldn't have gone down that route. KojiPro are too much of perfectionists for open-world games. FFXV should've probably not gone open-world either considering its engine limitations.
There is nothing wrong about open-world games. What's wrong is that pushing games into an open-world setting when it's not practical.
Also, open-world games tend to suffer from Shit Gameplay Syndrome. Exceptions being Dragon's Dogma and MGSV.

Not all Open world games are bad. It's just the majority that makes everything belonging to that genre seem bad. You should stop being "open world gamephobist and see the good 2%
