In terms of gameplay, some games don't really have a built in maximum ping spike where the game would reject a player's shots.
So in other words you'll engage the switch, and server side you'll be lagging off the charts. You then use your client side (IE what's on your screen) to do what's necessary, disengage, and then the server receives all the information from your client PC.
Case in point, Rainbow Six Siege on release didn't even reject bullets from 600-1000 ping, so you could get stupid shots off from unstable connections or lagswitches.
