I've said it before, and I'll say it again: the problem isn't that they went sci-fi and future, the problem is that they didn't go far enough off the rails.
Instead of this gritty, angular, trendy future style they went with, they should have gone full Gerry-Anderson, Dan Dare style future. Form-fitting space suits, death rays, atomic rockets. The style is so unused nowadays they could have carved out a niche and plonked their style of shooting into it, and not suffered from being compared to HALO and Titanfall.

They should change up the setting at least every two games. I figure that'd be enough time for one of IW, trey or sledge to make a new setting at least.
