It is overrated, I just like it best because of Boletaria and Shrine of storms. Both levels are what the series is about for me. Rest is pretty mediocre except for some moments.

Bloodborne is hard, definitely harder then Dark souls 1 and 2.
But if you just the good balance bloodborne has, you shouldn't struggle with the 'main game'. Chalice might be different because of artificial difficulty.
You can even say Dark souls 3 is harder, because you're much slower and every attack has high wind-up time compared to enemies and bosses with 100 x hit combos.

Both BB and DS3 feel like they're lacking something. For DS3 it's places like the Capital and the final area along with a bunch of lore/story tidbits where more than half of the speculation is whether or not the stuff'll be expanded through DLC - with which not one but two DLCs are confirmed.
BB suffers the same in the final areas as well: Nightmare of Mensis should've shed more light on the Mensis school as well as loads more exploration of the college. I also wonder how much could've been adding without the chalice dungeons, I still don't think they're worth it because they highlight how important proper level/encounter design is.
DS3 will likely feel as complete as DLC'd Bloodborne.

You find high level blood gems in chalice dungeons pretty fucking easily. It's not as much of a problem as people keep complaining about. People make it out to be a major flaw of the game. Hell, in DS3 I've only found 2 fucking slabs, so I have 2 weapons maxed. I can't use an item to upgrade the bonfire and have a second go for the slabs, so they're done. I don't know if you can buy them, but if that's the case you can either farm the same high level enemies over and over in the same area to get the souls to buy them, or you can farm the same area in a chalice dungeon over and over and get the rocks again and again, plus all the blood echos. Same fucking difference.
