What went right?
Interesting and unique characters in a compelling storyline.
This short DLC had better story and characters than the last two Dragon Age games combined.
Just goes to show how creatively bankrupt western studios are.

An actual villian unlike the main game.
so what was he?
>>336225110
a merchant
>>336225110
Probably their universe's version of the Devil.
>>336225110
your typical jew
quaint little story that was actually well-planned and stylistically coherent
like witcher short stories
>>336222334
They built up Gaunter in just the right way.
The real question is: Is saving Olgeird canon?
>>336222334
not the ending, that's for sure
>>336222334
Music was better than original.
>>336225349
>in spices
>>336226132
probably not, he was a scum even before he lost his heart
and Geralt doesn't like to mess with cosmic stuff unless it concerns his friends
>>336226132
>>336226294
It probably is canon. Gaunter O'Dimm is such a humongous piece of shit, I can't imagine Geralt not taking him down a peg when given the opportunity. Especially after the spooning & let's permanently imprison an innocent scholar scenes.
>>336226465
Spooning was bad. But scholar was digging in shit he shouldn't have. Knowledge may be dangerous.

What the fuck? He can do ZUWARDO?
>>336229057
Hehe. Meme.
I just finished this doc last night. I thought it was great from start to finish. Getting possessed by a ghost, that sweet heist recruitment, and a riddle duel with the equivalent of a crossroads demon. All great stuff, and a very satisfying conclusion. Also shani. Eternal rose was a good callback too.
>>336222334
price
better villain than any in the main game
interesting characters
new items are cool
>yfw you realize during every cutscene and dialogue scene, he's been watching you as a background NPC.
>>336230447
I also liked that we learned more about Vesemir's past.
I have really high hopes for blood&wine, they're taking their sweet time, but I'm ready to wait however long it takes them to perfect it.
>>336228698
There's some truth to this, the content is spread thin outside of places like novigrad and oxenfurt.
That being said, I wouldn't trade it. The sense of scale in The Witcher 3 is great.
>>336230447
Does it differ depending upon which characters you pick for the heist? I picked the elf woman and the dwarf. The elf woman ran off.
Also, Witcher 4 is more or less confirmed at this point, right?
>>336231365
>they're taking their sweet time
It's apparently 20 hours of content (let's say 15 because we know they exaggerate it), for a side-quest that took under a year that's not too bad. And it's an entirely new zone. Toussaint is basically Renaissance France right?
>>336231528
>(let's say 15 because we know they exaggerate it)
they undersell it
they said HoS would be 10 and I spent more than that doing it
>>336231464
>Also, Witcher 4 is more or less confirmed at this point, right?
how do you come to this conclusion
reminder that the nigger actually stalked you and appeared in every cutscene of the DLC
>>336231705
There was one of those "we're finished with THIS ARC of Geralt's story in The Witcher 3" statements from CDPR ages ago. It's obvious they'll make another Witcher game.
>>336231640
Good point.
>>336231707

>he's too shit even for Witcher
How do people like you even survive in real life?
>>336231784
I hope you don't play as Geralt anymore and give you some character creation so I can finally make a waifu
>>336231973
No female witchers, anon.
>>336232013
who says you need to play a witcher?
>>336231973
Nah, you'll always play as a pre-made character. Witcher isn't a freeform RPG in that sense.
And honestly I prefer it like that. It allows the devs to actually spend their time on content-creation that you'll be able to access on your first playthrough.
>>336232013

What if it's a prequel where you play as Vilgefortz. That'd be nice.
>>336225110
Just the devil. This entire story is based on polish legend, Twardowski.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pan_Twardowski
Or this thing, based on same story:

Overally, witcher is full of polish legends. I guess this is what makes the world so good.

fuck yourself. go play skyrim
>>336231528
>Toussaint is basically Renaissance France right?
From what we've seen ye
Did they improve performance since the release of W3? My pc is shit, couldn't run it on release, so wondering if there's a point in trying it again.
>>336231528
Book Toussaint was something like a country from fairy tales: no wars, no spying, no harm, closest thing to "defense" they have is bunch of knights-errants. They just drink wine and party.
Dandelion almost got sentenced to death in Toussaint because he romanced the princess while also fucking a lot of other women, but then she reconsidered and just exiled him.
>>336231193

olgierd made himself what he because of his love for iris, he didnt expect that living forever would make him lose his soul, his humanity
which made his heart of stoneYEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
>>336228698
To be fair. When I first played witcher 3 I picked broken bones because I wanted a challenge but didn't want the game to be so hard it's not fun. The game is definitely at its hardest when you first start because of 2 reasons
1. You have this huge map but you are too underleveled to actually do a lot of the content. (which the game does not gate)
2. You don't really know the mechanics of the combat. When I first started I was trying to block monsters attacks fight more defensively (kinda like a souls game). You soon learn how to deal with all the monsters and human enemies and it makes the game way easier.
mid game to end is easy mode no matter what difficulty you are on.
>>336231707
Holy.... fucking..... shit
>buy DLC after I start NG+
>hearts of stone is leveled for endgame
>have to push through another 40 hours of main witcher storyline again to get to it
jesus christ I wish someone told me. Oh well, I'm going to bang Triss this time but not tell her I love her, so that should be interesting
>>336233968
fuck that is sexy
>this and Enderal this summer
>Bonerlord this fall/winter
time to get comfy
>>336238174
Why don't you use the premade save they give you for the DLC or download someone else's endgame shit? Rushing through to get to HoS is not going to be a good NG+ experience
I recently picked up 3, but I feel inclined to ask about Hearts of Stone before I grab that too.
What's so good about it? Does it add a new worldspace, or is it linear?
>>336238050
did pretty much the same thing and i agree with you.
thought if you think about it the combat is vaguely soulsish, in that you dodge away and get in a fast chip or two and just repeat this until they die.
>>336222334
>visiting the blind professor
>reading his journal
I...I didn't expect this...
>>336238050
I'm playing through Witcher 3 for the first time now and fuck you're so right.
I spent so long just exploring and getting my shit kicked in until my room mates told me to just stick to the story for awhile, but now that I'm the appropriate levels for some of these quests, pretty much everything is easy as shit.
Theres this sense in the monsters being more difficult than they actually are (I took so long to get to that first Griffin fight at the beginning of the game, and by the time I was level 3-4 it was such an easy fight) that's kind of cool, but also a little sad. I over-prepare for so many fights thinking they'll be a challenge. And while a lot of the monsters are still cool, it's just a bummer.
I saw something about the Little Red quest saying I should read her mom's note. But I have zero fuckin clue where to find that, unless you only get that from choosing to fight/kill her then loot it off her?
>>336225110
The devil. This representation is a common archetype in east yuro legends.
>>336233968
This is DLC content? but how?
>>336241145
the 'devil at the crossroad' is have tons of variations all over the world.
>>336241145
You mean central european legends. You know, like Faust.
>>336241016
you only get it if you kill her
gives a bit of back story to her
>>336241294
they don't call it DLC they use the new hip term "content pack" because the word DLC become tainted. This is more akin to the expansion pack of times of yore. Remember those? Frozen Throne and Bloodmone, Secret weapons of WW2, Lord of Destruction. Those had shitloads of content in it and most of the times it was even better than the main game.
>>336241350
Most stuff in The Witcher is Central European folklore, which is why the books and the first game are so huge there. It's a setting that everybody knows.
