Dark Souls makes complete sense. The story is laid out for your start to finish. There are bits here and there that are unrelated, or might not make sense depending on how you played the game.
Obviously a boss who you can kill two completely different ways isn't going to fit neatly into canon. Same with optional bosses. If you kill Gwyndolin in Dark Souls you're breaking canon.

To be honest. The only bit of fancanon i've liked about DaS3 so far is when someone on here speculated that the Champion of Ash might have some connection to the Lorian and Lothric.
