What is the best Jurassic Park game?
>>
Original Genesis release
Fight me
>>

I played an arcade game once, where you sat on a bench designed like their jeeps.
Then one guy could drive it and shoot a gun, and the passanger had like a machinegun or a shotgun.
That was fucking awesome for 11 year old me
>>
Jurassic Park is shit you fucking nerd
it's my favorite movie

It was okay, but I loved The Lost World. I liked it's OSTs more than OG Jurassic Park OSTs.

it was the only good part of the game. Everyone was retarded. Even Gerry.

I would say the Lost World is my favorite.
That would make the perfect setting for a Far Cry game.
>>
Probably that piece of shit arcade game that every arcade in business carried at the time.

That or the Genesis game where you play as a raptor.
>>
>>336204945
that's why jurassic world is great. it's everything I wanted jurassic park to be when I was 10. every horrible idea up to the fucking motorcycle.
>>
>>336203390

the best ones were:

Jurassic Park (Sega CD)
Jurassic Park (SNES)
Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis (PC)
Jurassic Park: The Lost World (PS1)

honorable mentions:

Jurassic Park: Rampage Edition (Sega Genesis)
Jurassic Park: Trespasser (PC)
>>
A better question would be "why were so many Jurassic Park games so good?"

Seriously, for movie tie-ins, it had a shockingly positive fun:shit ratio.
>>
>>336205160
JPOG is good, but has a lame aesthetic and makes all the parks feel to similar

Zoo Tycoon is better
>>
>>336204945
it wasn't telepathic, it could communicate with the raptor because it had its DNA, but the guy who came up with the idea of using raptor intelligence was an idiot.

>>
>>336205458
It might as well have been telepathic.
I was genuinely amazed that someone had approved the concept of that dinosaur. It sounds like some executives had a bet going on;
>Schlomo I'll bet you 5 shekels that my 6 year old nephew can design a new dinosaur for your movie
>oy vey, you are on mr. Silberbaum. Make it 2 shekels instead

Sega CD.
It also had this guy that was all over the paleontology shows back in the day.
I wonder he's up to these days.
>>
>>336205509
It was quite jarring for me to see the T-rex fall in 30FPS, but would change back to 60 FPS when it got back up and caught up to you.
>>
>>336205598

The new Jurassic Park arcade game isn't bad, but it's not especially incredible either. Enemies have a tendency to blindside you quite often, so if you're not already shooting at a specific spot before they appear, they'll hit you with no chance to take them out beforehand.

Plus, all you do is capture three dinosaurs. There's not even a big final level or boss or anything.
>>
>>336205782
he looks like the guy that got eaten in LOST World when there was a snake in his neck and he got eaten by the T-rex
>>
>>336205964

oh well.

Still have to try it, but you saved me a big let down thanks
>>
>>336205971
Hey, you're right. I looked it up and that's him.
>>
>>336206042

It has it's moments, but it didn't particularly impress me, at least. Maybe they put out an update for it like a lot of arcade games have been doing lately, I have no idea.

Definitely look for Luigi's Mansion Arcade, though. That shit's tight.
>>
>>336204945
It's a completely retarded movie but it's still a fun watch, which is more than I can say for JP3

Bakker was tied pretty closely to the series from the beginning. I'm pretty sure Creighton based Grant off of him, and the rumor has it that the first thing Bakker did upon discovering Utahraptor was call Spielberg (whose Velociraptors had no known comparison at the time) and tell him "we found your raptor."

He's a really cool dude. Pioneered the "birds = dinosaurs" theory too. If you ever stumble across his book, "Raptor Red," pick it up. It's a fun read.
>>
>>336206409
Best thing though was the back and forth between him and Horner. After he watched Burke (that analogue of him in TLW) get eaten in he called Horner to gloat that T. Rex was a hunter.

I've never liked Horner. I've always thought of him as a pop paleontologist, the kind of guy who makes claims that are dubious at best just to get his name in the news again. Everyone I know who's met Bakker, on the other hand, has had nothing but good things to say about him.

Been a long time since I was serious about dinosaurs though, so I kinda wonder where both of them are now.

Trespasser might have been a shitty bugfest, but it's legit one of the most interesting games I've played in the same way that a train wreck is interesting to watch. You could see all the love and care and time the devs put into the game, as well as all the TECHNOLOGY, but then it all falls apart and just doesn't reach its full potential for all the reasons it did, like going over budget and being forced to rush. It also gets bonus points for that comfy Richard Attenborough narration.

He's a smart guy for sure, but his scavenger hypothesis was 100% BS. Even he admits that he can't take it up on a rigorous level. Honestly, I'd say both Bakker and Horner are "pop" paleontologists but thankfully unlike regular popsci memes like Bill Nye or Dawkins they actually do have talent if you read past the hype. Bakker's "The Dinosaur Heresies" had a huge effect on me as a kid, even if it was kind of simplified. If I didn't fall for Math/CS I'd probably be doing a paleontology major right now because of JP and Bakker. Instead I just drop by the Carnivora forums for info.
