40k Eternal Crusade thread time, here's a quick summary of how shit's coming alone
-game is essentially 'warhammer 40k battlefield, chaos space marines vs space marines' right now with no air vehicles
-free to waaagh has gone from announced, to cancelled, to 'looking at post launch', so they're probably going to use it as their first major "come back to eternal crusade please god" thing
-MAJOR optimization patch this week, could be a game changer
-eldar are next faction, they're coming the first actual patch after the big optimization patch unless they fuck up something. orks are the next and final faction for launch, BEST FOR LAST BOYS
-same patch is going to add the first batch of non-weapon accessories/equipment
-terminator armor shit is going to be added first mini-expansion after launch (2 to 3 months)
I'm interested, but I'm not paying $40 for early access.

I hope after eldar they put heavy focus on getting melee down, as well as nerfing plasma. It's too OP atm
Really can't wait for the next few months with this game, even with all the bugs and imbalance issues I'm having a shitton of fun

I'm okay with the melee system for the most part, but I hope once they add europe servers they can finally start making lag way less forgiving.
I jump behind cover, and somehow get shot twice and knocked down within a second after getting into said cover. It's okay for it not to be a giant priority while they only have america servers, but once the other shit is up the buck stops there
I will play it only when I can elegantly back flip around exterminating inferior mon'keigh.

Still look's like crap alpha, Space Marine is more polished than this. Also the sound design is complete ass, are you firing a Bolt gun or a fucking pea shooter?
No faction has any memorable classes to make you wanna play that faction. Orks got no nobs, Eldar don't have Warp spiders and fucking Space Marines even don't have Terminators .
2/10 at least they 'tried'. Still deserves to be banished into the warp though.

agree on that, especially since they got to re-use most of the assets from space marines for this early implementation of chaos space marines

its still an alpha, and space marine was a single player game with an optional multiplayer, this also has to support 100+ players by release at once

nobs are going to be elite classes, like hero classes but way more frequently deployable. So inbetween a hero and an elite. Terminators are coming within 2 to 3 months of launch. not sure about warp spiders though

Actually, that could really fit an eve style game really well. Like their whole bringing you back to life thing being exactly like the cloning process, player run everything, the intrigue that would create, the city carebear zones would actually make sense because of the lore. It would just fit so perfectly and would be a nice change of pace from the usual stuff we get. Would probably flop though because normies hate fun especially if it requires anything remotely resembling effort and skill and doesn't constantly reward them for doing nothing.

I had fun with this game at first, but once the novelty of it being 40K Battlefield wore off I couldn't keep ignoring the flaws. The fact that I don't live in the US so latency fucked me in the ass at every turn and made any melee fight an instant lose for me didn't help either. I might come back for a while after they release the Orks, but I'll probably not play for long because of latency issues.
It looked good when they first announced it. Back when it was an MMO, instead of a smaller, segregated PlanetSide. I liked the idea of fighting shoulder to shoulder with my battle brothers against the Tyrannid, or Necron maybe. They have chosen to make this game more narrow in scope, and a lot less fun for it.

In it's current state, Gears of War 2 is better than it in nearly every way.

Without 40k license & art style, this would be a supremely generic third person shooter no one would give a rats ass about.
Oh, I don't know about it being an inferior Space Marine. When people coordinate and shit, this squad-based shooter is really fun.

I was pretty excited about this game. But after playing about 30 hours or so in the early alpha when it was first announced, I just couldn't do it. I mean sure I'll look at putting money back into it if it actually turns out okay, but my god they basically said 'remember all that stuff we promised? yeah, it's gone.'
I was looking forward to Planetside 2: 40k edition, but now I don't even know what we are going to get.

right now they have 64 player multiplayer ingame and actually working in eternal crusade and probably will hit 100 by release, you can't have a super complicated melee system when some faggot might have 49 of his faggot space marine buddies anywhere nearby to fuck you up
the rest is true, but I'm willing to see how much of the original ideas they can salvage by release before saying they're fucked. if the game was going to be a 50v50 battlefield clone with 40k theme and mechanics with chaos/ork/sm/eldar I'd still pay $40 though

There was a real good storytime on /tg/ where the inquisition exterminated a planet because they thought that the locals had discovered the Emperor's name, but they turned out to be sadly mistaken. Search for "tol toleth" in their archive for the story.

It was fucked? Well then that at least gives me hopes for the Heavy Bolter to be better in the future. I love heavy weapons, and while the Plasma Cannon can be great fun sometimes, I still much prefer some heavy shooty action over it.
