Should I sell my 980ti ASAP since the new GPU is coming out?

>Nvidia Pascal Geforce GTX 1080 8GB GDDR5X and GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5 are scheduled to launch in June, with reviews out mid May
>>
Only if you really want the bleeding edge. Otherwise your GPU is fine for now.
>>
>>336192120
no just give it to me
>>
>>336192120
You could keep the 980ti as the secondary Physx card.
>>
they're going to be in low supply just like the 980ti, 970 and 980 was.

so don't sell it if you can't already buy the 1080 asap when it releases.
>>
Nah, it's still an excellent card. I've got the upgrade bug as well but there's just no reason right now. Once I'm upgrading to 1440p or higher and multiple monitors, then I will.
>>
It won't happen but I hope they release a new GPU in the ~$230 range by August.
>>
>>336192120
wait until the bench tests are out

>buying what is guaranteed to be $600+ for a brand new card that is guaranteed to have driver issues right out the box
>not waiting a couple months afterwards to let developers and better optimization really bring out the best of the cards without killing themselves or having driver issues that pulls your hair out for hours on end endlessly looking for solutions and only finding shill posts about each either card with shitflinging being the primary results

Keep your 980ti until November. Then you're golden.

I wish i had a dime every time someone told me that
>>
I'll replace my 980ti if it's at least 30% stronger while running cooler.

If it's not, I'll just wait for the 1080ti or whatever the variant will be called.

Running 1440p@144hz is pretty hard, could use some extra horsepower.
>>
>>336192120
the new cards are not going to be worth the upgrade if you have a 980ti
>>
>>336194378
i have a 750ti, what card is better than this that only requires the PCi slot? because my PSU is only like 300W
>>
Don't want to start a new thread so I'll post here since it's semi related.
Why do I want 2560*1440? What benefits do I get from it? Is there a noticeable difference in how it actually looks? I've liked 1920*1080 up until now, I think it looks great but I've also never seen something in the newer resolutions. Is it worth the extra bucks?
I have an old i7 2600k
And
R9 390x

Is there actually a second hand market for video cards. Who is stupid enough to buy a used video card. Who is stupid enough to sell their video card for pennies on the dollars for what they paid for it.
>>
>>336194898
what is stupid about buying and selling used graphics cards?
>>
I have a 980 Ti and honestly I'm fucking fed up. I thought it would be a great decision as I'd be able to play some games in 1440 and beyond. The problem is 80% of AAA PC releases are horrendously optimized. Just this year:

-Quantum Break
-Hitman
-Far Cry Primal
-Mirror's Edge Catalyst

Have all run like absolute shit but the first two do run a little better on AMD cards. None of these even hit 60 FPS on max settings at 1080 on average.
>>
>>336194764
1440p if you can afford, it gives much clearer image with higher quality.
If you want to imagine the difference, put on a game you got in 720p. Difference between that and 1080 is what you can expect between 1080 and 1440
>>
is it true that the new GPU will be "substantially" better since its using a new chipset?

My bro coincidentally is building a PC and bought a 2nd hand EVGA 980 ti Nvidia for about half the retail price. Seemed like a good idea. Worked for about 2 days and now the system wont boot with it in the slot. Tried another PC/Video card combination and the card was the culprit. He usually buys a lot on ebay and returns stuff often so its no big deal getting his money back. The funny part was the guy was messaging him back asked "what if i could fix it?. Pretty much cementing in me the realization that he probably gets dead cards and gets them to work somehow, but its not a full proof thing.

I know this isnt the case for everyones 2nd hand purchase but this literally happened tonight.

I like that /v/ is still full of manchildren who love Nvidia cock in their ass.

Its cute :3c

No cuz it doesn't have that new high speed ram everyone expected it to have, so its price per power will be shitty

If anything this is a good time to get a second card on the cheap and sli that sucka
>>
>>336194560
950ti.
Just buy a PSU you fool.
>>
>>336194898

I bought my 970 for 3300SEK (410 dollars) and sold it 1.5y later for 2600SEK (325 dollars).

What's stupid about buying used cards?
>>
>>336195243
The problem is NVIDIA really does outperform AMD at high end but the gap is narrowing due to DX12. I want to see if AMD's $300 Polaris card can actually beat a 980 Ti on games with DX12
>>
>>336195205
I can I just want to make sure the extra $150 is justified
Thanks anon
>>336195243
Shut your faggot mouth, let them buy what they want, you buy whatever you want
>>
>>336192120
The 1080ti equivalent won't launch until 3-6 months after the normie tier 1070/1080 are released, better wait

High resolution is the single most important graphical aspect to me. After getting my 980ti and down samping from 1440p and 4k to my 1080p monitor in my games, their is no going back; its ruined me. But at least i can start saving for another one to sli. Also to the cards need to be the same manufacturer or simply model to sli?
