When party members start acting on their own (meaning when you get three characters) it gets a bit better, but the AI is pure dumbfuckery still, wasting a lot of mana on minor enemies.

No. This was one of the most disappointing games I'd played in a while.
I was really hyped for it, the game looked great and had a world map. I thought it would be very much a return to JRPG golden days.
Then it turns out that you barely have control over your companions meaning you can either choose for them to use MP (in which case they'll spend it all on trash) or not to use magic at all, wherein one of the characters is a complete waste of space.
The story was really uninspired. The tutorials made me mad.
It was just shit in general.
Queen (male) when? I'm confident they'll fix it. They went all the way to make another entry in a otherwise dead in the water franchise, I'm sure they'll get their shit together.

The game is beautiful and I have no doubt the story that is there would have been sufficient to make a solid 2 hour movie. The problem is everything else.
