2 is near the bottom as far as OST goes. Really soft music with jazz undertones just didn't mesh well at all. 95% of it is trash. There's a few decent tracks, the opening, Yell Dead Cell, Arsenal Gear, and the Solidus fight. But nearly everything else, especially for the Plant chapter was trash.
5 is straight up generic and forgettable outside of the music from the trailers. But nothing in the vast majority game stands out or us very good. Just functional.

Let's be fair, a lot of music is subjective, and sure, and how you feel or interpret a game is subjective as well. So, yeah, I'll put it out as just that I, personally, me felt that MGS2's soundtrack didn't do much for me, and I thought really clashed with it instead, and that my reasons why were that I felt the sound track was often too light, incorporated too much jazz for what is at it's core a techno-thriller about betrayal and manipulation in the digital age, which was a poor fit, and outside of one or two tracks, really missed the mark and felt like they should have been in a different game.

I feel that MGS is still the tightest in every single thing. It doesn't drag unnecesarily, even when backtracking, like MGS2 does in the beginning of the real game, or feel too short in the game department, like 4. It's emotional and exposition heavy, but doesn't exceed the barriers of deliberate corniness, like 3 did.
It's just a great game all around,specially in spanish.

But I think MGS1 was better than MGS2. I played both on release (inb4 oldfag) and ultimately MGS1 left a bigger impact and experience with me than MGS2 did, but it did come close. I liked MGS2 a lot, but MGS1 is still the game to beat for me.
