Taking a year long hiatus apparently since people got so burned out on the mediocre ones they've been giving us lately.

The present day plot is a fucking mess though and I have no idea how or if they're even going to try to salvage it.
>>
>>336162325
Almost. I think Empire/Egypt can bring it back from the brink.

They shouldn't have fucked with the weapons and flow of combat. Fighting in Syndicate is the most awkward-looking shit, and you can only see your character hold his/her weapon in combat.

Getting caught up in the fad of multiple playable characters didn't help things, and making China and Russia, two very interesting locations, short 2.5D games instead of full titles just about did it.
>>
>>336163196
Fuck. I forgot about the modern day shit. Yeah, it's a mess. Personally, I wouldn't mind Watch_Dogs 2 being more connected to Assassin's Creed and even taking its place, and AC just focusing on the historical story.
>>
>>336162325
>Ubisoft

It's dead to me.
>>
Honestly Syndicate was the best one since 2 imo.
>>
>>336162325
I really fucking hope not

Love the series and would love for it to be revived in a sense

Lets go to space

They should have kept the whole "sci-fi revisiting the past through dna" shit out of it

Did you guys play the chronicles games?
The tie into the present day plot through a 500 year long story
It's nice
But china is mediocre, india is ok, and omly russia is actually good
>>336164545
No
Brotherhood was better
But the best since Brotherhood
>>
>>336165020
I didn't like Brotherhood.

I thought that the map was too big and didn't like that Ezio was being milked for another game. Also online shit was stupid imo.
>>
>at this point

Died with Ezio.
>>
>>336164545
Shit taste detected. Syndicate was dull as all hell, had a crossdressing for NO REASON unlike Kidd from Black Flag, had the probably the worst non-ground-level traversal (haven't played Unity), made all weapons contextual, had a shit pistol sight, some of the worst assassins to date, and this one is just my opinion having your character take off their hood after every little fucking cutscene was so annoying. Why even have that mechanic? Like, I get the crouching option; but why have them take off their hood when standing?
>>
>>336162325
Been dead to me since the failure that was AC3. Brotherhood was the best game. I haven't played a game since AC4 and I won't ever again.
>>
>>336162325
Ubisoft is gonna make another big budget jab at it in a year or so. If that doesn't bring the sales back up then expect the series to go into hibernation for a few years while they work on an overhaul.
>>
>>336165020
I have yet to play the Chronicles games. I'm waiting for another AC sale on the PS Store.
>>
>>336165243
Because Jacob can't wear a top hat with a hood
>>
>>336165232
this
>>
>>336165243
I think people running around in hoods when NOT sneaking is straight up retarded. Especially when only assassins wear hoods, templars can just look for people with hoods and attack them. I love that your character actually took it off when just casually going about.

The rest of your complaints are also opinions. And what crossdressing? I don't even know what you're referring to.
>>
>>336165351
You can pirate them, they run on toasters
China has you play as your Chinese waifu
India you play as Indian Ezio
Russia as Russian Joel from TLOU

Fair enough about the hoods, I guess.

The bitch who gives you side missions to steal carriages and boat cargo. She has a cutscene and everything.

I feel that AC games would benefit greatly from a stamina management system, and some other RPG mechanics.

>>
>>336165730
They were. And having them on 95% of the outfits was bullshit.
>>
>>336164545
Syndicate was one of the worst games I've ever played. Good animations and all that, but the setting and city layout were so fuck awful.
>>
>>336165773
What a shit way to end the series that would've been. Tons of tailing and eavesdropping missions surrounded by ship combat
>>
>>336162325
I saw this exact OP a while ago, same image and all.

Whatever, it kinda is. They've got one last try with Empire in 2017, if that doesn't blow people away it's dead.

The series has been suffering since Revelations, with Black Flag being the only exception. It's like a diamond in a pile of shit. The series went south really fucking hard, it's sad really.

I'm really not sure if they'll be able to pull it off with Empire.

I didn't even notice it so doesn't bother me. Clearly it was not at all intrusive to my gameplay experience, which is when I actually dislike SJW shit. If its in the game naturally and not shoved in my face then fine, why not.

Forgot about the combat. Yeah, that was pretty bad too.

>>336166283
The city layout was really what killed it for me in this game. It really just boiled down to those wide streets that were such a pain when you were running across rooftops. You had to descend all the way to ground level, then climb all the way back up on the other side. Who the fuck thought that was a good idea for a game that revolves around parkour?
>>
>>336166548
I wouldnt be suprised if ubisoft introduced next c with:
>after 1 year hiatus we've come up with an innovative stamina system so you need to plan your climbing and combat carefully
>also more gear progression, stats and basebuilding
>>
>>336166706

>>
>>336162325
After playing The Division (I got it for free with my GPU, don't judge), I never want to play another Ubisoft game again. Their writers are something special. I've never heard such idiocy before.
>>
>>336165530
>contextual combat
>only being able to wield one weapon
>not being able to use the hidden blade outside of killing one or two enemies at a time and only while outside of combat
How is that not shit?
>>
>>336166767
>You had to descend all the way to ground level, then climb all the way back up on the other side. Who the fuck thought that was a good idea for a game that revolves around parkour?

Dude... you had a zipline for a reason...

Seriously you're supposed to just zip across the street like spideman, not jump down like an idiot and climb back up.
When played correctly the game plays like a spiderman game with you swinging all around. Its amazing.
>>
>>336166754
I miss the times where AC1 and AC2 were the only games and it was all supposed to end with AC3. Patrice's version of AC3, atleast. Not the heap of shit we got.
>>
>>336166574
Kill yourself.
>>
>>336166973
You could only hold 1 weapon at a time in other games too. Plus you had tons of side weapons and junk. Combat felt literally the same to me as other games. Also combat in all the other games sucked cause it was too easy, at least in Syndicate they have health bars and levels and shit. Made me feel like i was playing an actual videogame.

Also what is contextual combat?
>>
>>336166767
You get a zipline/grappling hook. It's still pretty shit, though.

>>336167424

>>
>>336165730

if they gave the option to have the top hat on or not would've made the game a whole lot better, because that shit looked stupid af
>>
>>336167424
It wasn't even that far into it, but I can't blame you. Syndicate was a bore, and the combat sucked eggs.
>>
>>336167515
Yeah. I know.
>>
>>336167424
Its pretty early on.

And it makes the travel the best in the series imo.
>>
>>336167538
I agree. Liberation had something like that, so it's not like it wasn't something they didn't think of. Fuckers.
>>
>>336167471
Every modern game needs to have RPG elements, like gear progression, levels, base building, thousands of pieces of equipment to buy, etc etc, because they can't into actual character progression and they need to jew people with buying fake money
I hate modern AAA games.
>>
>>336167668
>best in the series
Yeah, I love slowly scooting across wide streets. Revelations did it much better.
>>
>>336162325
Maybe if they add well designed, fun mechanics and challenging gameplay. Right now it barely feels like a game. But it won't be an actual game, because ubisoft only hires game developers to do the bare minimum. They are making products for the masses. They are the equivalent of michael bay. Their products aren't targeted at people that are actually a part of this hobby.
What I'm curious about is how being a dev at ubi must be. I think it's the equivalent if being a metro driver. Ubi devs must want to end it all by now.
>>
>>336167731
that's literally one of the big reasons I skipped this game and because I was just so fucking mad of the top hat. It looks so fucking stupid.

I haven't played an AC since like, black flag I think. I don't think I finished revelations either.
>>
What does the ratchet and clank movie failure spell for the ac movie?
>>
Why did they get rid of the glyphs? Those were fun.
>>
>>336168059
Who knows, they're not the same type of movie. R&C was just a bad movie to get kids into the games
>>
>>336168059
>AAA dudebro franchise, live action with a recognizable star in lead role
>cartoonish platformer animated movie
It's a vidya movie so AC movie will be shit but I could see it fairing better than R&C movie for those reasons.
>>
>>336167829
>revelations did it better

Now THAT is just pure hating. Revelations had you go to predetermined ziplines and using them. In Syndicate you get to place and control the ziplines and they have far more reach, maneuverability, and functions.

This is just getting silly. I know its popular to hate the new AC games and like the old ones but use some common sense guys.
>>
>>336167972
I played the whole game alternating between Edward's outfit and the Huntsman one.
>>
>>336168358
Syndicate's were also slow as hell unless you were on a tower heading downward, and they were pretty slow, even then.
>>
>>336168757
You know you could push a button to go faster on the ziplines right?
>>
>>336167972
I liked Jacob much more than Evie's cheeky ass, but his outfits were almost all garbage for that reason.
>>
>>336168060
How would they bring them back? Don't get me wrong, they were one of my favourite things in AC2 and ACB but they served their purpose.
>>
>>336168904
Not much faster. And unlike a lot of people who complain about a game nowadays, I've played through the whole story and the Jack the Ripper DLC.
>>
>>336163830
>historical story

>>
>>336168949
I have no idea how they would bring them back. I just wish they did. Once they got rid of those, the game got a little bit more boring for me.
>>
>>336169151
but that's literally the premise of the franchise
>>
>>336163196
>desmond dies

>>
>>336164857
This
>>
Stop caring after they killed off Desmond and the entire past civilization subplot they had going that made it different from every other game where you go around killing people.

They decided to focus on the ADD market which is why they have to pump out a new game each year instead of actually putting in effort into a memorable story that makes you think a bit.
>>
>>336165154

>>
>>336168059
If both Warcraft and AC movie fail to please the critics, then I seriously don't see how vidya game will become a thing these days.
I wouldn't call these movies the best thing we can get, but it's a best shot we've got if you compare this to the shit from the 90s or resident evil movies.

I know that people hate on Warcraft already, but Warcraft has only 100$ mil budget, which is very small for a heavily-cgi movie like Warcraft. it's not Chappie where there is only one robot to cgi, there are thousands of orcs & even human armour which is 100% cgi. only 100$ mil? that movie has too many red flags. the only good thing about this film so far is the director, but directors are not perfect - m night was a good director once back in the day.

How does /v/ feel about AC Bloodlines? I never see it mentioned in these threads.
>>
>>336172771
The series itself is made for the lowest common denominator. Many people have a craving for a good pirate game, and it just so happens the ones that play Ass Creed are easily satisfied with shallow naval aspects as long as it pays lip service to a pirate theme.
>>
>>336172903
You don't need to spoil that mate, it's not going to get you lynched. It's definitely in the highest tier as far as AC is concerned.

wouldn't it make more sense that the head assassin makes you do "training" to unlock moves because you're demoted. so you have to do things the guild's way instead of IMALTAIRIDOWHATIWANT.

Pretty good, like a portable AC1, smaller areas though.

The DS Games were also pretty good.
>>
>>336173202
Not being able to counter is frustrating. Once you do unlock it you're pretty much set. Combo kills and defense breaks are nice but counter kills are all you really need.

AC1 feels like a really big tech demo at times. Some people prefer the way that you gather intel about your targets at your own pace (it's linear missions in the following games) but I think AC2 does literally everything better.
>>
>>336173145
it was pretty okay I guess.
>>
>>336173730
The game itself is mediocre. You can easily be informed of the backstory by reading a summary. The overall story is shit too, not sure why you care.
>>
The final death gasp will be one set in the future.
>>
>>336173730
He said he thought the game was boring and that he had other games to play.

AC 1 is the weakest one in terms of gameplay and the story is not that important because the other games don't mention Altair a lot, Ezio's story is the one that is actually good.

it's much better to just skip one game than to get frustrated and just give up on the series.
>>
>>336172771
I fell for the same scam.

The truth is that Black Fag is overrated as fuck. After you board 2 ships you've seen it all when it comes to naval combat really, it has probably the worst on foot missions of the series, and hunting, whaling, most of the side content is dull.

The series is dead to me. Ubisoft has won, they have shat out so many tedious games that I can't even get curious to pirate them. Playing Far Cry or AssCreed these days is almost coma inducing.
>>
I still think AC1 is the best looking and Most Atmospheric game in the entire series.
>>

This

To this day I have no fucking idea how any of that garbage adds to the story. It's like the writers never heard of a single writing rule. "Less is more" "If you don't need it, remove it". etc. This is high school level shit for fuck's sake. It also confuses me that Abstergo is alluded to being Ubisoft, despite them being the antagonists of the series. Like does Ubi even understand that?

Yes.

One of the bosses of Abstergo Entertainment you chat to in Black Flag talks about going to Chicago for a meeting with another company.

In Watch Dogs, you get a mission to kill him en route to a meeting, same VA, some character model.

In AC Rogue, they discuss how he was killed in Chicago by a hitman.

Wasn't the crossover mission in Watch Dogs declared non-canon to the AC Universe? That's what the wiki claims and Rogue says Oliver disappeared/killed himself due to finding out the truth of the Templars.

While there aren't any AC games this year, it jumped over to comic books, which are pretty decent, if a bit too SocJus to like outright.

The problem with AC is that Ubisoft turned it into a rough whore of the masses. With each game, the vocal section of the audience changed. People were extremely divided on how they wanted the present day, the control scheme, moral ambiguity, focus on character vs Assassin order, and so on and so forth. The game still kept a baseline decency from title to title, but Ubi kept pandering to one side or the other too heavily, so each game there was something that stuck out as an extreme sore thumb in the design direction, and of course the later ones started to have more technical problems.

The reason the early AC games, specifically 1 and 2, work so well despite dated elements is because they came across as the developers just making something they wanted to instead of having some kind of agenda in mind. Setting wasn't irrelevant but notable persons of interest came into play. Heavy segments of the story were about Ezio and Altair growing as characters, but the Assassin Order they served was a large part of the plot. Difficulty wasn't hard, but it had a satisfying level of challenge as is with no handholding. On numerous other qualities, early AC kept everything balanced well and didn't have the outside influences that caused great elements of the game to be stripped down or changed.

Ubi has shown sign of improvements in the recent years. They're still in a deep funk, but I think they've become aware their series are darlings in no ones' eyes anymore. By putting more time into development instead of having B-teams remake A-team products into something else, hopefully more effort is being put into making AC: We Wuz something that can pull the franchise out of the nosedive into obscurity that it's been heading gleefully into.
>>
>>336183851

>"classic" combat mechanics (as opposed to Unity and Syndicate's bullshit)
Both combat systems are ass. How about something new that's actually good?
>>
>>336186952
>Both combat systems are ass
The original one is miles ahead of the other. Sure, it's really easy once you get it down; but at least it isn't a janky-looking, drawn out shitfest.

I mean, you can't even equip more than one weapon anymore. And that one weapon is only shows up while in combat (in Syndicate, anyway).

AC1 has the best assassinations in the series. The targets are also the most memorable in my opinion. It actually made you question your perspective.

Unity has better, challenging combat for a change, but I thought everything else, including the parkour was worse.

The rooftops are just shitty to climb, many of them are a slog to free run around due to their layout. Also there's a shitty animation problem with some jumps that triggers me badly, when doing long jumps, you jump faster than the run speed, which ends up looking terrible.

The only thing they have going for them is they're incredibly easy and any retard can pop it in and play it without expending a braincell. They're the equivalent of soap operas at this point. Just completely bottom rung entertainment.

It is by playing modern day stuff that you will discover that:
>Jesus was framed and executed by the Templars so that they could get the Shroud of Turin, a precursor artifact
>Native Americans were far more in-tune with the precursor powers than any other human civilization
>the 2000 USA election was rigged to get GWB, a Templar, into office (I'll admit that one is really fuckin dumb but it IS a part of the lore, like it or not)
>the holocaust was actually orchestrated by the Templars in order to get rid of the tribal societies like the Romani or Hebrews because they feared the fact that these groups were more ethnically similar to the First Civilization

I think the point of making combat slower in the newer games is to reinforce that it's a stealth game, and you should be avoiding combat. At least that was the idea in development I guess, but they abandoned that quick considering they force you into combat all the goddamn time.
