I got bigger problems than my games on steam if WW3 is announced.

they wouldnt last a month, the nation is succumbed by hollwood culture and corporatism, they never have any training or mentality for war. What will happen is they will start civil war with each other.
>>
I download and print all my licenses out, and start pirating. I own a license to the games, and unless steam revokes those before a shutdown, they wouldn't be able to stop me.

And if they tried, i'd just hire and lawyer and draw it out, since if they're shutting down the service they're removing their EULA based immunity to class action lawsuits.

I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one.

I know, it's terrible. I wish I had to go to gamestop and pay 70 for new PC games so I could pop them into my non-existing DVD-drive. Sometimes they were out of new games due to demand but that was fine... I would get it eventually. I also liked swapping discs and multi disc installations, it really felt like I owned my games. 10 years later I can't use them but they were MINE. Fuck steam breeding shut-in weebs that sign out their ownership. There would be no possible way to play steam games if steam ever disappeared, no way in hell.
>>
>>336118952
I know I don't own them, I own licenses, you stupid fucking mong. Try reading.
Those licenses entitle me to be able to download that game at my leisure. They'd have to not only shut down the service but change the EULA. and there's no way i'd agree to that, and they'd be breaking their own EULA at that point. If they're breaking it by removing my paid services, i'll sue. The american legal system is great that way.
>>
>>336119197
Because they have to make a profit in order to be able to make more games.
If I don't believe they deserve my support I won't give them any money.

Not true. You can use your console normally without online functions.
>>
>>336116371
I don't, I'm swiss.
>>
>>336120185

Yes, you can. How do you think CFW is developed? You may not be able to go online but you can still play all your games.
>>

>Implying wars stop business from happening

Your assumptions about why steam will close are false, wars are being increasingly fought by controlling money coming into a country rather than controlling the country. Steam wouldn't shut down for that.

Otherwise, I'm paying quite a bit less to have unlimited access to a game. If that service fails I'll did somewhere else to get a similar service
>>
>>336121257
But this is during WW3 anon, and devs are shutting down their services.
On PC you can get locked out of individual games (which is easily fixed with a crack) on console they can lock out your entire system including hardware
>>
>devs got my money for the game they made
>games are still on my hard drive
>those that aren't I can just pirate
Non-problem
>>
> PS4 has no games
How do you justify buying it?
>>
>>336121026

If your console has no internet connection how would it ever discover some mandatory security patch?

Think things through before you post 'em son.
>>
>>336120454
Same here brother
>>
>>336121618

I think you're exaggerating an issue that wouldn't even exist. You're treating a war as though it changes everything for the country immediately, as though it was the eastern front. Comparatively, wars aren't wry disruptive anymore and business still happens in conflicted countries.

I just don't see what you're bitching about becoming an issue

>>336121618

>>336121927
I think you're taking a shitposting fred seriously
>>
>>336121618
WHY would they lock you out of your console? That does nothing for them. It's a total non-issue. And you'd still need to be connected to the internet in the first place for them to push out even a stealth hotfix to remote brick your shit.
>>
>>336122198
>WHY would they lock you out of your console?
why would steam lock you out of your games?
>>
>>336121996

My point is also that this thread is assuming ww3 breaks out and every game available gets pulled back to their developers hand like a fish on a line. Why would a world war get in the way of digital distribution? It doesn't get in the way of digital business. China and India are both still in a hot conflict right now, they're still mass manufacturing.

The assumptions you're making about what developers will do is like a Tom Clancy novel it just doesn't make sense
>>
>>336116286
>He thinks international trade stopped during world wars.
>>
>>336122292

They wouldn't, basically
>>
>>336122292
I never said they would. I'm not the guy you were originally arguing with. This is all such a non-issue, but the biggest thing of all is how you think they'll actually have the capability to fucking remotely brick your consoles. That is so paranoid it belongs on /x/.

I'm sure they did in the parts that weren't war torn and had movie theaters
>>336123291
Not sure how you equate terrorist attacks to a war. Also people go see movies in NY just as much as ever, don't they?
>>
>>336122580
I think it's actually technically possible to do that, in case the console was sufficiently backdoored beforehand. Like, I'm pretty sure Intel processors can be remotely turned off through Internet, but you would need Intel to cooperate for that. You still need Internet for that, might be also achievable with Wi-Fi or a connected USB, I think, but you obviously need to be specifically targeted for that.
The main question is not how, but for what purpose. There is literally no reason to brick consoles unless the opposing country holds important strategic world plans on CFW PS3, or something. Considering how unimportant consoles are in the grand scheme of things, they might not even have the sufficient backdoors.
>>
>>336123851
with the world obviously.
>>
>>336123851
Considering how they call local sporting events "world championship" they probably think even shooting at themselves is a world war

I can't imagine they had a lot of money to spend on theaters, but there might've been free movie screenings to keep up the morale. People need to handle stress during war somehow.
Not actually sure, though, just talking out of my ass.

No. This implies you don't want to use the internet, for whatever reason, ya dingus. It's more like you bring your phone to Gamestop and transfer files from there to phone and then unload to your PC when you are home.
