Solaire is an NPC who died with the sunlight maggot on his head. He did not link the fire in his own world because he never appears as a phantom in our world but in the flesh instead.

He was also a user of Dragonslayer Armour.
In his room you can find the statue of Firstborn.
In a chest in barracks nearby you can find Sun Sword.
It's either Solaire or someone who was somehow related to him.
