This is called a "Loaded Question" and is a common logical fallacy. First, it assumes the premise "Playing games with mods is disrespectful to the creators vision".
Modifying the game, in some cases, is in fact intended by the creator. The creators of many popular games encourage the modification communities to come up with interesting additions to their games (Minecraft, Elder Scrolls, etc.).
While it could in fact be stated that there are cases where a game creator could feel that it would be disrespectful to the intended design of the game, the absolutism presented in the OP does not hold true.
Anecdotally, I might add, I find that many players play the game as intended before modifying the game. So in those cases, it would be less a subversion of the creators vision and more an exploration of what might lie beyond the intended gameplay after experiencing it.

depends on the game and the mod, and i won't care as much if i've already played the game as intended once
i.e. i would play fallout 4 with the mod that changes the dialog wheel to show the full lines of dialog, but i wouldn't play half-life 2 with a mod that changes all the combine into bags of doritos
(i wouldn't actually play fallout 4, that was just the best example of a non-intrusive mod i could think of)
