Yo-Kai Watch is a very casual fun time, I like the city and the Yokai designs, some good OST too.
The Senran Kagura games are fun, but mostly shallow and braindead, some good production value and anime tiddies though.
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is great, good way to get introduced to the series too.
Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call is a ok rhythm game, better if you're a FF fan.

I started playing Puzzles and Dragons, only touched Mario so far since the game said it was the simpler one; is there any way to affect your changes of recruiting an enemy or getting a specific item, or is it purely RNG? As in, are there actions you can take like defeating an enemy with a specific type of energy, or something like that, that could increase your chances, or do you just need to grind to get the things you want?

Depends on what you define as a chore. It's a collectible game but is way more rewarding than previous Animal Crossings. It actually helps eliminate a lot of the annoying grind of paying your mortgage with the tropical island beetles. Has a ton on features too. It's impressive technically speaking for a game.
