Does /v/ like Ori?

Is it a good game?
>>
Yep.

And yes.
>>
yes to both
>>
>>336060934
yes

no
>>
>>336060934
good is just a meme buzzword for shills, try actually explaining what its positives are
>>
>>336060934
been interested in this game, looks comfy and i do like a platformer from time to time.
is the newly released edition worth it?
>>
>>336060934
Love it
I wish there were a few more enemy types though
>>
Pretty cool. I haven't gotten too far, but it's a pretty game with enjoyable atmosphere. Gameplay isn't really anything unique, but it's pretty fun.
>>
I fucking love it

its a fucking GREAT game, one of my favorites of all time, in fact. There's just something about the music/artstyle/story that makes it so good.
>>
great game

does anyone know if the definitive edition is worth five bucks if you've already beaten this game to nearly 100%?

it's Metroidvania, people love that shit

very simplistic, yet emotional story, with amazing visuals for a 2d platformer

great soundtrack

well balanced gameplay, not too easy, not too hard
>>
>>336061558
i just finished the new areas, they were really fun desu lad. I like the new powers as well. IMHO its worth it, plus i like the devs so i have no regrets about giving them some shekels.
>>
>>336060934
Yes, I loved it. Especially how you can use the enemies projectiles or even the enemies to catapult yourself and shoot the enemy projectile back. Tripple jump plus that gave some freaking awesome mobility and made fights fantastic if you didn't go purely to kill.
>>
>>336060934
No and No

Fucking waste of time
>>
Most beautiful game I've played, possibly barring Journey on the PS3. However, this game has the added benefit of plenty of platforming fun, and tight gameplay. The enemies leaves something to be desired, and while the escape segments are GOAT, there's no notable bosses or anything like that.
>>
One of my absolute favourite games of all time

I'm enjoyed the DE but I really hope they do a proper sequel some day

I'm not sure if you can get the regular version anymore, but the update adds in more of the same.
Which is good

The new additions are fun and would make going for 100% feel better.

The OST is excellent.
Always fits the moment and creates a great atmosphere.
>>
>>336062024

The DE comes with both.

It's a shame they opted to not include real boss fights; the movement options you have are amazing, but their application in combat feel under-utilized.

Pseudo artistic boring ass game for tumblr to feel artsy and Indie over. It was just okay. Level design wasnt fun
>>
I loved it. Now I bought the new version and I'm loving it again.

Not just some artsy fartsy game. It's one of the best looking 2D games to me, but the platforming is actually really fun too.

Starts off slow as a sloth taking a shit, but really gets fast paced and fun.

I will buy a sequel on day one.

The new dash ability adds a lot more movement.
Didn't really like how they added light burst lanterns throughout the rest of the game. The ability is useful outside the new zones but just shooting it off into lanterns to open doors got lame.
>>
>>336061331
buzzword is a buzzword
>>
Only complaint I have about the new version is that the new abilities allowed you to skip entirely over a few intended routes.

Like there's one part where I'm supposed to open a door, then loop around up the top. But I can just throw that blue light thing and bash up there instead and never even bother opening that door.
>>
>>336063151
Also, fuck fuck fuck games that let you return to 99% of areas and don't tell you about the other 1% until it's too late. Fuck this game
>>
>>336061570
This whole chase sequence was amazing.
>>
>>336063463
That pissed me right the fuck off, but at least it's fixed in the new version. You can enter "dungeons" again.
>>
I didn't care for it, but then again I have this weird disconnect with Metroidvania-style games that keeps me from fully enjoying them.

Game's beautiful as fuck though.
>>
>>336063404
I think more sequence breaks are a good thing.

Especially since they put triple jump behind a million ability points now with all of the dash stuff.
>>
I care very little what anyone else here likes, but yeah its one of my favorite games. Also I'd like to add there's nothing "tumblr" about it.
Undertale is a good example of a game thats pure tumblr
>>

This triggers me. It's like people don't even pay attention.
>>
>>336060934

>Does /v/ like Ori?

>Is it a good game?

absolutely.

I bought it solely for its visuals expecting nothing but an artsy experience but actually got one -if not THE- the best plattformer I've played in a long time.
>>
>>336063884
Where does he have hooves in the game, though? Supposedly that was just a concept art thing that later got scrapped and he's supposed to have regular ass paws.
>>
>>336063984
Look carefully. Ori has always had hooves.

Also,

Ori's a dude, dude.
>>
>>336064061
See, now that's just wrong. Ori has been called "he" by the developers. And in-game, "she" is always referring to another character, in which two (arguably three) other main ones are female.

There are some new powers and levels. They're not just end of game extra stuff, you'll see a new area very quickly that gives you a new power.

You can also teleport between those wells.

it's worth it for $5 if you loved the original

It's only $5 if you have the original. 2 new zones with new abilities and those are sort of incorporated in the rest of the game. Reworked skill tree, fast travel between the wells. You can't access all of the area immediately- you need stomp

>>
Does the definitive edition work better?

Ori was always a coin flip on whether or not the game would crash on me during cutscenes.
>>
I wish it was a little more puzzle and little less platforming (especially miss-by-a-millimeter-and-get-set-back-five-minutes), but it was good regardless.
>>
>>336060934
it is good, might be too forgiving if you upgrade the tree that lets you save and heal while doing so.
>>
>>336072787
Both versions have always worked just fine for me. I just did a full playthrough of the DE, including a couple speedrunning glitches, and everything worked fine, no crashes.

But I know lots of people have had issues with it. Were there any solutions found for the original release?
>>
fucking work stopping me from finding the new content in the definitive edition
ori 2 when?
>>
Didn't like it personally. Platforming felt floaty and imprecise which was really annoying at a few points (long ass spike hallway), but really added up over the course of the game.
Level design was bad. Game looked technically nice but nothing ever really looked aesthetically that impressive. Don't remember a single second of music or ambiance from the game.
Story was trying way too hard to be a "muh feels" cuddly creatures indie game.
>>
No because it's not on ps4

>>336073882
2/10 for effort.

your right about the story

you must be bad at video games or something though because this games fucking controls alone make it fun to play

>>
I WANNA FUCK THE _____MOM______
>>
>>336073882
I'll admit that the platforming does feel a little sloppy in the beginning, but once you get the bash/double jump/wall crawl skills it plays much smoother. And that's not very far after the beginning anyways.
