Goons just became absolutely meaningless in the MMO world. The largest EVE Online (no, I don't play, but I hate goons) alliance was just destroyed in what is being called WORLD WAR BEE.

Concorde doesn't attack the alt character that comes in to clean up.
All the suicide ganker has to do is drop bombs melt it.
Concord still takes about 20 seconds to appear, and PvP only gets more retarded power creep every year.
I don't play EVE nor will I ever play it, but I love the stories from it. EVE is basically "society the simulator" in small form so it's always fun to see what they do. I mean, it has it all, politics, war all that stuff.
Also thankfully my assets and tengu are safe.

Concord is just retaliation, they don't do anything to prevent a suicide since they don't show up for a bit.
It's profitable because after insurance the cost of a typhoon or vexor with sentries is relatively cheap, it costs maybe ~15m to setup a vexor to scramble and kill industrials; if the hold and fittings dropped are more than that, then you're making money. It also helps that the ship scanners now give an exact isk estimate of the value of the ship & cargo hold, so you can make a split second decision on whether or not to destroy it.
People used to not do it because the profitability wasn't as evident; back when mission runners would fit officer mods on their ravens and whatnot. Now undocking with an officer mod is basically painting a giant target on your back.

Cloaks or jumps are the way to get things around.
Problem is jumping has a fucking cooldown that can last a week, so jump freighter characters are trained on separate accounts specifically for that purpose. It's pretty retarded in both denying all forms of economy simulation (pirates/enemy navies and escorts) and arbitrarily locking characters that can only do one thing great out from playing the game.

A blockade runner is really the only way to move anything sizable.
An escort doesn't really do anything. If they want to get what you have, a typhoon fleet will kill you in 1 hit, and they already expect their ships to be destroyed, and attacking them before they attack will trigger concord on your own fleet.
