As a retrofag, there are two genres that are objectively worse pre-modern and that is FPS and fighters.

There are exceptions, like Perfect Dark, but generally they were much worse. I'm speaking from a console perspective though. For example. Bioshock is terrible today. Sprint plus aiming with a trigger vs having to click the right stick made it infinitely better.
