Because SJWs have to convince themselves that every little thing they do has some great purpose of inching toward "progress" and some ideal that will eventually be reached. Everything is justified because it's for the "greater good", every action hinders or helps that progress, whether it's one character in a game, or one word in a book, or the lack of forced quotas in a conference in one school. A panel focusing on game developers (most of which happen to be male) not being "inclusive" for the sake of it is a symbol of oppression and holding back progress like the Nazis tried to do.
