I'm cool with that. I've been busy as fuck with work for the last few months, so the sudden mass of content should keep me going through having become rusty as shit.
It'll be interesting to see if they branch the franchise out into different styles of game. Besides the obvious 3DS rhythm game, an RPG or life sim set in the city could be interesting. Something between Jet Set Radio, Animal Crossing and Persona.
We live in an era where I can easily find a 30 minute loop of almost any videogame song I could ever want after a quick youtube search, so I can't say I'm particularly upset about this. The real novelty behind these amiibos are obviously just "I want the little figures of Callie and Marie."

Well for a lot of the team it is their first major team. I'm pretty sure before Splatoon most of the team was working on either Animal Crossing or the New Super Mario Bros games.

Splatoon is clearly a good game on its own, and the devs decided to not add in other major nintendo characters to try to create larger appeal among the Nintendo fanbase instead opting to stick with their own merits. And it paid off.
