It has LIPS system (Live Interactive Picture System) where you choose a response on conversation with the team mates. where the response will account to the team mate's stats and bonus stats and skills. sometimes the correct response is not responding at all.
anyway, in the end, the Teikoku Kagekidan successfully defended Tokyo, but at the cost of all your teammates' lives, and the only one that lives is you and the highest affinity, and your commander turned on you

Hell, it was amongst the first games to even kinda include concentration camps.
As a small /k/ommando, I also appreciate how much research and effort they put into the weaponry and gear. You can see the inspiration in the game's arsenal, and even the plot's like a mix of Winter War + the more modern fuel wars.

Back when it was new on PS3 I thought like OP, "this is surprisingly not that cliched" Then after you get that mascot pig it just goes full force and I had to drop it after the beach scene.
