I'd sooner have an issue with a video game with a main character being called an RPG, because you aren't playing a role. You're playing a specific character.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater is more of an RPG than Final Fantasy 7 because you at least get to create the character for the main role in that one.
I hate how people think allocating stats and having a level is what makes a game an RPG.
I don't even know why people claim Zelda games are RPGs.

Not saying you're arguing this, but your post just reminded me of how people would argue about this without realizing why drop rates and stat allocating make sense. If you were to go out and fight wolves with a sword or fire magic or some shit, chances are by the time you kill one it's going to be too mangled to properly skin it.

It's F2P but most of what you'll want to do will cost real world money and there's no way to get the currency without taking the effort to model and code something new that's cool enough to be worth someone's real money and make a business selling it to people in game.
