People claim you can grind the cards. But the grind is really horrible if you have no cards, since you only gain gold if you actually win.
So you have to play Arena which is a RNG fuck fest, so you might not have too much fun playing that.
However if you git gud @ it, you can manage a gold+ from playing Arena and unlock packs and adventures over time.

This is pretty accurate. You really only need to spend a LOT of time at the beginning when everything you have is shit. As soon as you have at least one remotely playable deck things start going much faster.
