I didn't like Dreamland 2 or 3 much. But I wouldn't call them 'bad'. Just not my thing. Since I prefer games like Adventure/Canvas Curse.

Only Kirby game I didn't like was Mass Attack, because games with imprecise controls AND a grading system can eat my ass.

I'll never get the appeals of these games. It's not like they're bad, they're just mediocre, like Mutant Mudds. Just boring oatmeal games with no real meat to them.
Also the Kirby puzzle games, while fun, are usually done better on the same system.

Dreamland 2 and 3 focused on animal companions over powers. Levels were also designed to be bigger (and slower) to allow for the large animal companions to move around. I also really REALLY dislike the system of collection star pieces. And even the music felt slower and less memorable than in Adventure/Super Star.
Again, they're not bad games. I just enjoyed the way Adventure style games are done.
Dream land 3. Clunky ass controls and the pet system were enough for me to not 100% it back then

Going for 100% with a friend in couch co-op isn't really what I'd call a restriction, just a natural way to play the game that arises....
Honestly didn't care for Canvas Curse, not a fan of the touch controls at all.
Also I couldn't get into the Dreamland games.

I don't think there's ever been a Kirby game that's been objectively terrible, but there have been a few titles that have been pretty average/mediocre. For my part, I don't think Star Stacker was particularly good, but I think the charming presentation and music do a lot to redeem it. The same could be said for a few of the other early spin-off titles.
If we don't count spinoff titles and just focus on the main platformer games, then I'd say that they've always been consistently enjoyable: I don't think there's been one that was flat-out "bad". That being said, I don't think KDL and KDL2 have held up as well as other titles in the series, Kirby 64 is somewhat overrated, and Squeak Squad - considering the time in which it was released - was one of the weaker and more uninspired titles in the series.
