He exaggerated on a lot of topics and threw in a ton of Confucian ideals, such as the baby spiking and wife eating. The baby spiking is to signify the importance of a mans character and talent over that of family, the wife eating is to signify the importance of being so loyal to your lord that you would even kill your own wife and feed her to him just out of loyalty.

I think 7 Empires caught the best balance of actual fighting gameplay and the more political gameplay that came from declaring policies and forming stratagems. The different leadership aspects officers had and how they would alter gameplay in both scenarios via tactics, interactions, and policies made it interesting enough to want to try all 5 different "aspects" an officer could have.
