You are basing this off the idea that audiences will not watch a new IP when the reality is people flock to entertaining and accesable, generally well made movies. Zootopia is literally a new IP, most superhero movies might as well be, and they do well. Sony is more likely than not, banking on the movie being good to attract audiences and not name recognition. The new characters from the movie all felt extremely out of place and underdeveloped in the game. While playing it I had hoped that were simply due to the game sloppily implementing story content from the movie and that they'd be better in the movie, but everything I'm hearing makes it sound like they're all just shit characters.
I miss the Q-Force from the third game. Maybe it's cheating to compare them to the new rangers because the Q-Force was comprised of familiar characters from previous games so we already kind of knew them, but even if you never played the first one and jumped on board the series with R&C3 it was easy to quickly get a sense of who all these people were because they were clearly-defined characters with identifiable and distinct personalities

I didn't think it was horrible or anything but it was far from great. For every good scene there were several awful ones. The movie was long for all the wrong reasons; they spent tons of time on unnecessary bullshit and then rushed the important stuff. And the fight scenes didn't really flow well at all. The best parts IMO were when they focused on only Superman or only Batman. It was like Snyder had no idea how to mix them together, especially in the final fight. The three heroes barely interacted at all and instead all did their own thing. It just seemed poorly thought-out.

It was great to see once. But once is all you will ever want or need to see it. The gags and nods to the series were the only things holding it together. The movie was barren of any real genuine tension, almost everything was forced and forced super hard, the script was cringe-incarnate save for a few moments, and the entirety of Dr Nefarious and his new origins was just unfathomably retarded.
I would hate to feel whoever designed and wrote Nefarious's character felt when they saw this movie and watched a legitimately dangerous and deranged psycho robot be turned into a wussified parody.

Insomniac was not kidding when they said this was a new slate. There is almost zero crude humor at all other than the cheeky tagline on the poster, the movie goes well out of its way to tell you that NO ONE HAS DIED EVER save for Drek. No one suffers too horribly for their retarded actions, the only Galactic Ranger that wasn't an insufferable and completely unlikeable cunt was the tech girl who everyone bullied endlessly despite her being their literal fucking lifeline. Quark was made even more retarded than Zapp Brannigan (Keep in mind Quark actually is very intelligent, he's just incredibly childish and street stupid), and Ratchet winds up being incredibly dull with almost zero sass or wit to him.

Tell me this. How much does a movie ticket cost, and just how deep into the franchise are you?
The movie has about 10 gags about the other games, with a fun little reference mark I won't spoil that's really, really nice and will make you grin at seeing. There's quite a few older movie references in the earlier part of the movie, too, but once that baby hits the second half of the movie, it all slides down horribly save for ONE gag at the end that almost managed to salvage it for me.
If the ticket price is under $10 at any time, go during that time. If it's over $10 period, no matter what, wait until it's on DVD so you can rent it instead.
I love Insomniac, I love R&C, but I cannot deny this movie honestly blew; even if it was a blowjob for the fans, it was an ultimately sloppy and dull one. Still a blowjob.
No videogame movie will EVER beat the videogamekino that is the first Mortal Kombat movie.

The following weekend it will drop by a lot with Civil War coming out. It's also important that films make as much as they can during the opening weekend as that's when the studios make the most money.
With each week, the theaters showing the film begin to make more off the film while the studios take in less.
