What's /v/ opinion on this?
I like GiTS but that alone isn't enough reason for me to play the game. I'm looking for a CoD pub alternative (like CoD4 public DM servers back in the day) and was wondering if this qualifies?

No gun renting, so far the only thing that requires real money is the skins.
You have to buy new guns but that's with the in-game money, you get 50k every level up too.
ANd honestly, the starter weapons are perfectly balanced.

I like it.
It's more like counterstrike than COD, but counterstrike with a respawn timer, abilities, and more objectives that just planting the bomb.
So like CS, running and gunning COD style will get you killed. There's no medic class, or health packs. You can get a triple kill, then dies from a stray bullet from someone spraying and praying.
Overall, even with the gun customization, characters, (more than COD and Battlefield) the entire game still feels kinda barebones (like counter strike).

I'm playing a lot of killer instinct right now.
I used to play this until something else distracted me. Not sure when I'll return back to it. Maybe when there's a lot more maps.
Pros:
sharing abilities and playing as cautiously as a team (when you get a competent team) feels rewarding as you win. It takes time for you and your teammates to get out of the COD mindset.
Cons:
Grindfest to unlock characters/weapons.
The gametype that offers the most xp and fastest leveling up, is the plant diffuse mode with no respawn.
-And you only get more xp if you do well/win.

There are 3 anime GitS universes:
>The 2 movies
>The SAC TV series
>Arise
All three have separate timelines and pretty different tones/focuses. The 2 movies are very philosophical and artsy, for instance, while the TV series is a lot more "weekly". So it's totally possible to like one universe but dislike the others.
I'd recommend starting with the first movie. If you like it, watch the second movie. If you don't like it, watch SAC instead.

why is this site always so slow?
I played it a while back.
Had some really bad CPU problems. Couldn't use more than 2 cores or something. Caused really bad freezing and stuttering whenever the game had to render an enemy player. Made the game completely unplayable so I refunded it.
I would definitely play the game a lot if that got fixed.
